What a great song with Patti Labelle's amazing voice. I've always really liked this movie. I recently bought the Directors cut with a lot of added scenes. Also the beautiful Gong Li is so good in this. It's a great underrated movie.
Saw this in cinemas aged 12, 2006. Did not understand the film. Watched it again 20 years later, It is a MASTERPIECE. The reason the film flopped was because of all he technical fast paced dialogue that leaves the viewer initially saying wtf
the reason is that there are so many boomer fanboys of the OG series. They all gave bad ratings since in their minds no one could replace the old actors. I have never seen the OG series and for me its one of the best movies in its genre.

You just need to see a few times when you really understand it how beautifull is. Original series was groundbreaking and stylish. The movie has a great visual, soundtrack, actors just like in series but with early 2000's settings, not the 80's but it works.
As of 2023, more time has expired between the "new" movie (2006) and 2023 (17 years) than between the movie and the end of the '80s show in 1989 (16 years). Fact that its still "the new movie" in my head says all you need to know about my age
