Jimmy, I was the actual pilot. If you watch that takeoff (small airport north of San Juan Int'l.) you'll notice the camera "pulls up" as I pass by still on the ground. That was my fault. I should've given them 300 more feet. Don was a great guy, celebrated his 35th birthday on that shoot. Glenn also and oh crap....forgot his name, the guy that played in Dukes of Hazzard. Just watched it. Update: This is the shortened version. My takeoff with Glenn "flying" it was omitted. The TV version had it.
@@billcallahan9303 Great story. I’ve been a CFII MEI for twenty years what’s the Beech 18 like to fly? Looks like it might be a little tough on takeoff from P factor from big engines and tail wheel. Really would like to hear about it.
@@jimjohnston526 If you really want to know Jim, read my book: Over & Back by Wild Bill Callahan on Amazon. It's doing great at 4.6 stars, might be 4.7 now. In one section of a chapter I relate my snowy, icey, dicey night landing at Midway with one brake inop, heavy cargo in back & how I figured out how to make it work using one brake. It's good learning stuff & thank you for the comment. Kindle version about $18.00.
So, when i was living in Miami back in the day, my friend and I would get regular gigs on the MV set as background extras (via show casting relative). We were in this particular scene, which simple as it is, took many takes. The guy in the brown plaid jacket was also a regular and funny as hell. He would always wear that same jacket as to stand out from the other extras. Additionally, he would attempt some irregular subtle action as to draw attention to himself. In this particular scene he faces the camera (away from the water) during the call to begin the reeling action. Obviously it slipped by the execs. Fun times!!
@@archietuttle2682 Don Johnson and PMT were born to play Crockett and Tubbs. Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx didn't do it justice. I like both of them, but the Crockett and Tubbs roles are so iconic, no one else should play them
It's ("Lunatic Fringe") also played in full, in several key scenes, in the movie "Vision Quest" with Matthew Modine. VQ was a really good movie about a HS wrestler's move for greatness. It's from thr early/mid '80s, and has a great '80s soundtrack. (Madonna does a cameo of an entire song- she hadn't yet gotten super popular. By the next year, she was a household name.) ",only the Young" by Journey and "Fame" by John Waite are featured in the movie. @Backwoods_870
