Me too. And I was lucky enough to live it in my early 20's. Man, We didn't know how good we had it back then! None of the political correctness BS we have today.
@@busterhoodstar4447 So the show Miami Vice was a pretty good representation of the drug dealing going on in Miami? Just finished watching the entire series on DVD a couple weeks ago. Good show.
@@Snake-ms7sj Glamorized for sure. But just like Hollywood, I'm sure it was like that for a select group. I'm from California. I moved to Miami in 86'. I was 15-16. I would ride my skateboard everywhere and go to the beach. Back then, hookers were walking on Biscayne Blvd in string bikinis, thongs and high heels. Near the Fontainebleau Hotel on Collins my brother and I were walking on the beach and came across a suitcase near the shore, which was weird. We were approaching it and about 12 feet before we go there, a crubby Latin guy yelled at us while he was running up, to "vámonos!" Who knows what was inside. We lived off Washington and 2nd Street in Miami Beach. As a teenager, we didn't see much happen live, but we heard it for sure. Lots of gunfire at random times. We stayed in at night. You always saw bullet holes at places. Miami was built on drugs or foreigners washing their illegitimate cash. That is still true today. If you know Miami, not many people are citizens and most are working class or living in poverty. It's obvious the town is a washing machine.
Me too. I was still in high school at the peak of Miami Vice. Fridays were usually when you'd go out with the girlfriend, go to parties, go to movies, out to eat, etc... but when Miami Vice was on, I was parked on my ass right in front of the TV. It was such a good show...even better than the movie. It was just iconic...money, cars, crime, women in tiny bikinis...cripesnwhat could be better...better than today's crap reality tv
This show is legendary. Better than anything on tv nowadays. It's a shame this show was only on tv from 1984-89. Sonny Crockett and Rico Tubbs will live on forever :)
I get misty eyed Everytime I see this scene, I love these guys, and I'm so happy I got to watch this series from beginning to end, my childhood passed on at the end of this series.......I MISS THOSE DAYS MAN.
I agree I really like his work he also did collateral with Tom Cruise which all the way never gets enough credit I think it's one of Tom Cruise's best movies as well as Jamie Foxx his performance got to give my props to Jamie he's one of my favorite actors
@@richardlahan7068 yeah I remember Crime Story it was made in the 1960s Las Vegas it was pretty good it ran for I think three seasons and it got canceled
I was just out of high school when this final scene aired and followed the show fanatically from day one when I was a freshman in 1984 and cried when this scene was over because I knew we were about to leave a decade like no other. Man this crushed me for awhile. Long live Vice and the 80’s ❤️🙏
Still remember watching this, the original soundtrack for this final scene perfectly fit exactly how I felt at the time. The end of one of my all time favorite series and the end of the 80’s all in one moment.
Yup...didnt realize at the time how great everything and carefree the times were..no riots...no epidemics...no internet..no women like Kardashian s....even t.v. and the bars and music...everything was better then.
There are no words to describe how AWESOME this whole series was! The actors / actresses, the fashion, the lights,, the locations, the stories, the music, the emotions.... everything fit PERFECTLY together! There was never and there will never be again such a perfect series in my opinion! MIAMI VICE = EPIC!
Was a great time to be alive and aware. But we can’t go back, it is lost forever, just smile and be grateful your still here. We only have one short life.
I don't want to go back. I just want to bring most of it forward. We still get everything online but I would like to bring forward the positive, great fun feel of the time as well.
that last 30 seconds was awesome, that soft keyboard synth sound and them driving off into the miami distance in the ferrari, its like it was a finale to the 80's
Perfect time capsule of that era. Granted, a fictional time capsule. Yet something about keeping this great series in the same decade was just Perfect! Couldn't imagine having MV run into 1990...
OMG DUDE NO SHIT IM BE 53 IN OCTOBER GRADUATED HS IN 1985 SAME YEAR VICE 1ST CAME ON AND EVERY FRIDAY NITE AT 10 PM I WAS GLUED TO THE TV ALL MY FIENDS NEW WE DIDNT DO SHIT TILL VICE WENT OFF !!!! MY ALL TIME FAVORITE SHOW ON TV EVER !!!! I MEANN THE CLOTHS AND CARS AND MUSIC AND GUEST ACTORS !!!!! TRULLY AN AMAZING SHOW !!!!!
capitalec yup Brings me back too. Wanted to live on a boat on a marina in Miami... never materialized. Had a great life so far and made a good living and have a beautiful baby boy and a super hot 35 year old GF but still I always wonder what if...
This scene is so powerful especially at the end when crockett asked if tubbs considered law enforcement further south and he didnt say no. Basically leaving the doors open to a spin off. But never happened. At least in '97 they reunited in Nash Bridges. But this scene many say officially ended the 80s. Its hard to say. Many say Hulk Hogan vs The Ultimate Warrior Wrestlemania VI 1990 was the official end of the 80s. We Had Miami Vice, Rock, Metal, dance pop, breakdance, freestyle, and Wrestling. The 80s was the best. Sucks tbat Crockett & Tubs turn 71 this year and castillo is 73. I watch this show everynight on STARZ like its a new episode. Sooo sad we cannot re live this decade. The best decade ever!!! This episode still brings me tears
They could bring it back in a modern setting with Billy Crockett and Tubbs Jr. It won't have that 80's goodness to it but I'd watch the hell out of it.
Alex Melendez ~ I so agree!! I only wish we could all relive the decade of the 80's! There has never been a decade like it ever again! Just glad I was a teen during the 80's to experience everything that had to do with it!!
It's so strange how a TV show can affect one's childhood & burn in his memory for the rest of his life. It becomes a powerful thing...a very emotional thing as well.
I was in high school then. Not a care in the world. Great music, I lived in the Huntington/Newport area, skiing in Big Bear, cheap food and gas. I'd say that we were very lucky to lived in that era. Now the world sucks ass with it's drama.
@@andrevanderbij4375 Oh yeah, so perfect on every level even in today's standards! I I just love Sonny for what he represents and who he was! Kinda like the James Bond of Miami back in the day! IMHO!
@@andrevanderbij4375 If I had that hair, I would keep it longer for sure. Fully agree, short hair styles just don't float my boat. Need the ladies approval! Cheers!
Miami Vice was THE greatest police drama television show ever. It came along at just the right time and ended up defining the very decade in which it was made. It was truly groundbreaking in the way it was made. The colors, the music, the location... it was the coolest tv show of its day and it was so damn good. Seasons one and two were by far the best of the series. Come season 3 there were changes behind the camera and by season 4 it didn't even look like the same show anymore. Seasons 4 and 5 had some real stinkers ('Missing Hours' and 'Miracle Man' come to mind). The final two seasons the music had also changed. Jan Hammer was now gone, replaced temporarily by John Peterson, then passed to Tim Truman. Tim is a highly accomplished television composer and and I really liked his work but ultimately it deviated from the sound that made Vice famous. By the final two seasons the writing had seriously declined and it was clear the show was coming to an end. That said, I'm just happy they didn't kill off any of the cast at the end but I do wish we could have seen them saying their goodbyes to the OCB crew, including Izzy Moreno. I know Martin Ferrero wasn't considered part of the regular cast but he should have been. Would have especially loved to see C&T finally express a kind heartfelt word to Izzy and even give him a hug, and maybe even hear his faithful sidekick "Manny" speak even a single word for the first time. I also hoped to see C&T say goodbye to Lt Castillo, Stan, Trudy and finally Gina, of which Crockett shared some very special moments with in their earlier days... but we got none of that and instead had to settle for C&T sharing a mere handshake across the roof of the now "stolen Testarossa". In my mind Crockett did indeed go further south and spent 5 or 6 years relaxing in Key West until he decided to go back to work, this time with San Francisco PD. He gave up the Testarossa for a 71 Plymouth Barracuda and his new job was rather different from his earlier days as a young hotshot Miami Sergeant Detective but life moves on. On a side note, I would think Crockett would've been financially secure assuming that he likely was the recipient of Caitlyn's music royalties. Anyway, that's the way I choose to look at the way Miami Vice ended and the life of Sonny Crockett, now Nash Bridges.
I agree. This show changed the way TV shows were constructed. It was stylish and bright, and for the first time the soundtrack became as important as the plot and helped define the show's atmosphere. I thought S5 struggled for coherent plot lines at times. Definitely a much darker series. My personal favourite remains S1. Tim Truman's music was definitely different to Jan Hammer's, but I love a lot of the long, searching guitar runs.
@Jon Jonas Would if I could brother (I live in Oz). Imagine Biden as president? We may as well all go to the mattresses. Keep fighting back, stay free.
We had Vice parties to watch new episodes every week... Socks stayed at the front door...Good times that are hard to explain and can never be replicated..
End of a TV era, end of a decade that Vice was a mirror into. Miami Vice dared to challenge our thinking by suggesting Big Business/Big Banking involved in the drug trade (Prodigal Son) or that the US Intelligence arm (CIA ie Baker in Freefall) were also neckdeep in the drug trade. Later we would find out these fictional storylines were far more true than made up. Vice was ahead of the curve and like Crockett and Tubbs many of us became cynical too and looked for our own beach where the water is warm and the drinks are cold and we prefer not to know any of the players. Sad we woke up one day to realize the good guys and bad guys were just illusions.
Kind of ironic how the end of Miami Vice coincided with the end of the 80s and the end of an era for myself as well personally came together as one big ending
The 80 were great bring back the 80 already I am tired of this crappy era end this madness era and bring back the 80,white people of America vote straight republican in November to bring back the 8O decade again starting in January 2O21 !
White people of America vote straight repiblican in November and tell all of your white friends and white family to vote straight republican to bring back the great 80 decade in America !
WKMAC well said my friend what a great analysis of the great 80 decade Miami vice predicted the future just look at what trouble this society is in nkw with the Corona virus the democratic party of Mexico caused the super flu with their fake democratic impeachment this caused the Corona virus in the United States white people of America vote straight republican in November to stop the Corona virus in the United States once and for all !
I had such a crush on Don Johnson (still think he's good looking) and especially loved the look in this episode. Such a transition from the clean cut look when the show started.
... nothing compares before or after ... "missing it" is the understatement of many millennia ... the only show I planned my week around ... all we can do is enjoy the dvd's and reminisce over & over & ... over ...... & ...........
I grew up with this. This is why racism died in my generation. Because everything was way cooler when you had a cool black and white guy working together. We all need eachother even if we don’t always get along🤙🏽
@@morsteen...ONLY white people think it is a 'regression' when the subject of race is brought up.....As long as Whites think that they are the only ones to be called Americans, and all others are 'hyphen' americans (Asian Americans, Latino Americans, Black Americans, etc), then race will always be in the subject to talk about in order to understand Americans.
@@THE_HMRC that's sort of part of the point. Either hyphenate everyone, so we can actually know everyone's culture ( Norwegian-american, cherokee-american, canadian-american, mongolian-american, turkish-american, etc., etc. ) or reduce everyone to the color of their skin. But don't half-ass it and only call a few categories by color, and the rest by hyphenated. That is flat out racist. It is a regression from what I experienced growing up. We just plain weren't raised to discriminate or be prejudiced based on skin color. End of story. And now, there is so much fucking emphasis on that, it's sickening to me.
@@morsteen....you miss the point.....ONLY white Americans hyphenate SKIN COLOR for people who are not considered WHITE. And you are correct, it IS racist....But that is what the United States of America is built upon: RACISM.......so much so, that even in the US Constitution, Blacks are identified as three fifths of a person....If that's not foundational racism, I don't know what is...
There will never be a show like this again..everything that was cool about the 80's. The pilot episode was the best on TV and the ending was a tear jerker for any vice fan. Used to watch this on Friday night and then hit the clubs until 4am.
This is the episode that broke my Dads heart. Other than Monday night football, this was the ONLY reason my Father would sit in front of a Television. I know the later episodes got a bit corny, but it didn't matter. Every Friday night at 9:00 pm, my old man was in front of the tv with a cold beer and some popcorn and dear Lord Jesus, you better not disturb his Miami Vice time. I miss the 80's, when we were young and innocent.
@Jon Jonas Shut the h*ll up with your politics. This about a classic tv show not your platform to rally voters. You're either a troll trying some crude reverse-psychology tactics or worse, a genuine wacko. And don't write in capital letters it only makes people assume that nobody listens to you in private.
Notice In the final scene of Miami vice the great don johnson has the classic white suit and royal blue t shirt this was to pay tribute to the Miami vice tv series final episode

@@sandrasanders706 NBC should do a Miami vice reunion mini series movie with the great great Don Johnson and the great great Phillip Michael see 31 years later the great Sonny Crockett is now the Miami PD police chief and tubbs is the assistant chief of the Miami PD the can call it the return of Miami vice a two part event on NBC !
@@jonjonas2528 I would rather see that than a remake I'm hoping it will happen I know Don Johnson is doing a reboot of his Nash Bridges show.. but I think the last thing they would want to be associated with this being a cop after all they went through. It would have to be something major to have them come back and be cops again... and not a 2 hour movie but a whole week miniseries would be awesome.. been saying that for years.
Vin Diesel is on the works on a Miami Vice sequal show, not a re-boot. In an interview with Don Johnson 1 year ago he hinted that he is involved in talks about reprising his role as Sonny "Burnet" Crocket, and rumors about Philip Michael Thomas making a come back too. Let's pray this is all true.
Every single time I watch this exact video clip with the song playing, it feels so real; almost like it so deep and personal, almost like you are saying goodbye to some one or in this particular time to en era that would never come back; that you have to let it go.....
Now it's 2022 I still watch Miami Vice. The car , the clothes, the music, I was a kid in the 80s and a teenager in the 90s. But still I think it's the #1 show of all time. I still want to dress like Crocket now. Everyone misses those days.
This was a touching send off to the best vice cops and they are. Crockett and Tubbs. Can I give you a ride to the Airport says sonny. Tubbs says you bet sonny . .I'll miss there music and show.

Miami Vice was one of the best shows ever for the first two seasons, and then it fell apart. But for those first two seasons, we made sure to gather every weekend and not miss an episode.
For me, season three wasn't bad but yeah, seasons four and five were bad for the most part. Oh there were some good episodes mixed in there but the episodes with James Brown and UFO's (Missing Hours) and the one called "Miracle Man". Oh they were so bad!
@@WelshWidgetMan2O1O I just mentioned those same two episodes and they were utterly ridiculous. I wonder how the cast felt upon reading these crazy scripts and what they thought about how far the show had fallen from the first two seasons. I agree with you that there were still some decent episodes in S4/S5 but the look and the sound were now different, as the original camera operator and the original composer were now gone. Still, I love the show just the same.

When it was first announced I was very excited because I naturally assumed it would include if not star, the original cast. The movie is okay as far as movies go but for me it was a huge disappointment because at that time they had the chance to put the original cast together on the big screen one more time when they were still young enough for it to work.... but they DIDN'T and instead chose to use other actors. For all us true Vice fans this was BAD MOVE. It really pisses me off when Hollywood screws things like this up because, for me, the movie should have had the original cast members.
