Even in tonight’s game when the Niners offense was crumbling, Jimmy put the ball right into Jennings’ hands and he dropped it. You could tell Jennings was upset because he was literally punching the ground. Jimmy, who had every right to be upset, you can actually see a look in his eyes that was compassionate. I mean you could almost hear him saying “it’s okay, you’ll get the next one.” Of course I’m an insane fan so I picked up on this and immediately texted my friends that Jimmy is too nice. I get a little crazy during the games. Man, Jimmy sure did suck tonight, but that’s our QB and we are going to cheer him on no matter what. Go Niners!

49ers do have a whiny fanbase, and I say this as a fan. Never a QB good enough it seems. Jimmy may be best QB 49ers have had since Young and seem so easy to give up on a guy. Usually it is QB gets all the blame and glory, with Jimmy seems like he gets all the blame and next to no glory, but he keeps on winning which is what I love he ignores the hate and it even fuels him sometimes.

Jimmy is a good QB but an elite leader.

He's well known as a leader. No question he will be scooped up quickly and remain a starter in this league. He's currently a Top Ten QB in both QBR and QB Passer Rating. But the franchise really has little choice but to release him. It's purely a financial issue. The deeper we go into the playoffs the less there's any chance of negotiating down his expensive contract. And the franchise needs money for Deebo and a number of other big time players that are underpaid and whose contracts are up. We already also have other expensive players (Kittle, Williams to name a few). It's a financial conundrum. There doesn't seem to be a way out that won't result in pain.

I disagree, Jimmy plays his best ball against adversity. He just doesn't carry the team on his back, so if the other people aren't doing their job then it makes the rest of the team look bad. 200 yards passing = win. 300 = loss. guessing if we could have a statistic for that it'd be accurate 80% of the time for the Niners.

@@fallen1014 Interesting POV. You're both right. He does play very well, some say at his best, under pressure. And when he's got good protection. The correlation I see, even more strongly, is that he plays best when the team makes fewest dumb mistakes and penalties. He's a rhythm player. Dumb penalties that interrupt momentum and rhythm or O-line protection breakdowns = Jimmy not having a good day. No or few penalties and decent protection = Jimmy getting in rhythm and successful drives. Seattle was an example of how the team plays when we make uncountable dumb penalties and ball handling errors. Since then the coaches have done a very good job cleaning this up, and we see the results.

If we don't keep him it's going to be a huge mistake, I'm not gonna lie, I was one that was saying let's dump that contract and use the cash to add the missing pieces but Trey is still way too raw and Jimmy is too valuable to us, way too valuable, they need to show the fan base this kinda stuff more often because nobody knows he's actually this vocal, I didn't.

Coach Shanahan calling plays as well. If he stays healthy,hes a top 10 or 12 qb in this league. So under appreciated and under valued. And is beloved by that locker room. Great teammate! Go 49ers!!!

Yep, I agree, right now the momentum we have as a team is making me feel like this team is Superbowl special, it's coming at the right time and Jimmy is really the catalyst and it really shows.

It's a real conundrum. Especially if we miraculously win the SB. Then what? The problem is 100% financial. It's hard to negotiate down Jimmy's huge/expensive contract the more success we have now - the deeper into the playoffs we go. This is at a time when we have multiple BIG TIME players whose contracts are up for renewal, when we also already have big expensive contracts with some others, and some big time players are going to be up for free agency. The problem is we NEED money for Deebo and others who are clearly underpaid, if the franchise has any hope of retaining these great players and keeping the franchise as a winning team. We are financially forced to release one of these valuable QB's, though I'd really love to keep both. I just don't know how they can. The parallel problem is they need players to keep building around the QB's needs - but Jimmy's needs are different than Trey Lance's needs. The builds are different between the two, and we obviously can't afford to build toward both QB's needs. We need to pick one. In either case the resulting problem is we need a good/decent backup. Not sure if Ned Sudfeld is good enough. (Haven't seen enough of him.) The franchise has some significant challenges and hard choices to make moving forward. It will be painful for us fans regardless what they (must) do.

All he is now is a scrambler like Kaperdick. You don't need a scrambler, Tom Brady sure cant scramble and he has 7 rings. Jimmy G learned from Tom Brady.
