Why does that kid not want to be Mason’s best friend? I do!!! Mostly bc I share his passion for sandwiches

In like 12 years when this kid is in the NHL that kid would be like “man he should of been my best friend”

I just want to say, as a nanny/babysitter to several kids over the years, that Mason is clearly surrounded by people who love and support him enough for him to feel secure in his body and voice. Major congrats to his parents and to this organization. He's unphased by his mistakes and his trips and stumbles, and he's _motivated_ by reminders rather than ashamed or frustrated. Once he nails it, he's proud - he lets everyone know and repeats his accomplishment out loud to himself. I've seen lots of children be too ashamed to talk to themselves, or be too insecure or afraid to be by themselves and do their own thing for a while. He doesn't seem to require constant feedback, attention, or validation from anybody; not only that, but he seems to like himself enough that his _own_ feedback and his _own_ validation of his work and achievements is enough for him. He likes the sport, he likes the game, he likes the rules, he likes his pals, but he also seems to just like being his own special little person, and that's really refreshing and beautiful to see. His secure relationships with those who care for him - his parents, his coaches, his buddies - shines through in his behaviors in these videos. His demeanor very clearly shows that he's loved, cared for, encouraged, and listened to. I guess I just want to thank you for being such supportive and loving parents to this boy. I was lucky as a child because I had loving and encouraging parents, but a lot of children don't and a lot of people who are adults now did not. I try every day to be someone who's loving and encouraging to all my charges and it breaks my heart every time I see someone who doesn't receive that kind of joyous true love that I had (and that Mason has). It breaks my heart to see it in adults, too - "if only you had someone who loved you, you'd know how incredible you could be." Thank you for teaching him how to love himself and be secure in himself enough that his own validation of his own accomplishments is enough to make him proud. Thank you for being secure enough that he can go to you for extra boosts of love and encouragement. Thank you for making sandwiches with him after it gets dark.
