FB Live show with Finnabair showing some fun and inspiring techniques including Art Ingredients Mica Powders: - making your own metallic gesso - mica powders with Soft Gel to create paints... and more!
I certainly came to the right place. I just bought some of your products and I’m trying to educate myself as much as I can before I get to use them. So excited!
I love this video !! our local store only has the orange mica powder so I need to go treasure hunting for the gold. The altered box turned into a magic literally in your hands. Thank you for the tutorial.
...i will be painting a set of machines that run wet so you say a metallic base paint works best? I want black with gold pearl and maybe a bit of flakes
@@FinnabairArtStudio yes, a set old lapidary machines. I tested a bit of mica powder in glossy black rust paint hahahaha. i think i know now that the mica needs to be in a clear coat applied on top of the black undercoat? Sound correct? I want to try both powder for the pearlescent look and a bit of flake for the glittery sparkle ✨ do you see this working in a clear coat on top of black?
@@jeffclarkofclarklesparkle3103 to get the best, most visible metallic coat is in fact art with a black undercoat - black gesso is perfect and when it is dry brush the metallic paint on it (dry brushing will give you nice detail with a Bit of black visible) or fully cover with paint. If you'd like to use mica powders or flakes I suggest mixing them into sticky gel medium and apply :)
