NATIVE AMERICA
Season 2 of Native America is a groundbreaking portrait of contemporary Indian Country. Building on the success of the first season, this four-part Native directed series reveals the beauty and power of today’s Indigenous world. Smashing stereotypes, it follows the brilliant engineers, bold politicians, and cutting-edge artists who draw upon Native tradition to build a better 21st century. Each hour reveals a core tenet of Native heritage: the power of Indigenous design, how language and artistry fuel the soul, the diverse ways that Native women lead, and the resilience of the warrior spirit. Brought to life with dynamic stories of the here and now, these thematic episodes launch an active dialogue between past and present. They reveal the foundational beliefs and traditions that Native Americans carry forward to this day, even as they live fully modern lives.

The native peoples have such strong and resilient communities. I grew up in South Florida and feel strongly bonded to the land. But I so badly wish I could be a part of an intertwined and deeply rooted human culture like the Miccosukee

Wonderful commentary. While living in south Florida I visited often…the Everglades are spectacular and they need restoration to their former grandeur

"I am you, and you are me. Don't be afraid to be you." How profound! I read a book once, I Sit Listening to the Wind. It asked the question, How Would Your Life Been Different If? That question changed my life. I hope that when people hear what Betty says, "I stopped and listened, and I heard that voice say". That maybe people will be inspired to go out into Nature and Listen. It's the beginning of a great relationship with Nature, whose voice is as quiet as a whisper. I love that she says, "Women are two-legged manifestations of Mother Earth."

Indigenous religion resonates with me because its immanent relationship with nature is implicitly scientific and wise. Spirituality and nature are in harmony, and knowledge is gathered through observations in nature that aid in survival and the preservation of the planet through a reciprocal relationship of care, love, and gratitude. Like she said, "Nature is the church."

I find it interesting that she describes her theology as seemingly monotheistic when I think most Native American theology is polytheistic not unlike Nordic culture in structure. These south Florida tribes should also help to hunt the large snakes devouring all animals on their land/territory! They can be meat & money at the same time as the state will pay for each snake caught. Additionally, biologists are still even studying the snakes habits to figure out how best to hunt them! 🤔 I also find it odd that she referred to her people as "indians". 🤦‍♂

Natives tend to prefer the term Indian

A lot of nomadic Indian nations were indeed monotheistic with a singular creator deity and some “lesser” spirits. But not all. Also why does Indian offend you as correct me if I’m wrong a non native? It doesn’t offend me or my people. Only thing these “progressive” European mindsets want is to take what we claim as ours and twist it into their own ideas. We’ve adopted Indian. You could say the term “Native American” is offensive… America is a European concept, my people called it “Cemanahuac” and others call it turtle island.

Air boats, a waste of gas, oil and a general source of polluting air and water. If she REALLY CARED she would be in an electric john boat.

An electric propelled jonboat wont go where her boat goes. No comparison. She cares! Go somewhere else with that.
