"And this old corduroy coat is not keeping me dry / But I... can't think of what else to try." ~~ This is a Roswell, New Mexico fanvideo (#fanvidfeed!) about Michael Guerin and Alex Manes. Alex would go on to eventually become his husband and change his name to Alex Guerin. ;) ~~~ [you may wish to leave the Closed Captions (CC) off but you have the option to turn them on to see the voiceovers/dialogue transcribed, or to see the lyrics transcribed so that you can easily auto-translate them to your own native language.]
[You can toggle using the Settings Gear ⚙️between the choices of captions. But turn off the subtitles in order to properly appreciate all the lyrics transcribed in "open captions", in text rendered with the video - the closed caption subtitles might cover too much up. Do what makes the viewing experience best for you, though.]

Definitely one of my top ships of ALL time. When I vid them, I keep picking out songs that mean SO much to me on a personal level for this ship... "Some Kind of Home" ( • Roswell, New Mexico: M... ) was always one that really spoke to me on a personal level, but this sad Joshua Radin song grows on me with each passing year, it's so beautiful and poetic and it hurts thinking how much it fits multiple people I've dated not being ready for me, in the sense of not being healed enough from their own childhood attachment wounds essentially... often the breakups involve an element of them telling me "it's not you, it's me" and meaning it like... this is about them and what they have to offer any partner, and they realize they should just be single.
This song captures that kind of thing in an interesting, sad, and yet very loving way. Caring about the person and... well, Joshua Radin when he played it for this Sunset Studio Session (and I'm glad I could find a version that wasn't a duet with a woman, because the main version just would fit a male/male ship less well), he referred to this as his "victim of timing song". In the lyrics he doesn't insult his love interest or blame them for being "immature", he just gently says "you got growin' up to do", and it's so soft and...
Anyway I'm SO glad I finally was able to bring this idea of mine to fruition! Make the dream or vision of the fanvideo into a reality. I started this video back over 10 months ago in March 2023 and only was able to come back to it and finish it in the past couple of weeks.
When it crossed my mind that this ship would work well for the song, it was the "someday I'll return and we'll have a wedding" fantasy portion of the song that really inspired me, but then I kept finding more ways it felt super fitting for them, all the growin' up had so so many ways to match it, related to them being kids before, but even just the line about the "corduroy coat" made me feel a little bit like it was written just for them. In the end I don't think the coats Michael wears are actually corduroy but they are often relatively similar in style, and would similarly not be waterproof in the rain... lol.
Please leave me a comment. You have no idea how many hours it takes me to make a single video like this these days. The coloring and text-for lyrics and adding end credits, then making the thumbnail at the end alone took me like idk 14 hours? That was after the video was already "pretty much done". I wish I was kidding. I'm out of practice and everything's taking me a long time, plus my computer keeps freezing, etc etc. So the old vidder adage "hours to make, seconds to comment" applies lol. Just say something if you're one of the rare few reading this description ;)
Also, if you are able to please do donate a few dollars to support my creativity! I could really use all the help I can get. www.buymeacoff...
Thank you SO much. This is my first video since I created a "Buy Me a Coffee" page, and my first time trying the End Screen and adding my own videos I would like you to watch up there during my end credits part of the video. ;) And I just finally created a playlist for all my Roswell, New Mexico vidding as well as a playlist for all my vidding of Joshua Radin songs, since I have a handful now of those. • Roswell, New Mexico vi... • Vids of Mine Set to Jo... Also I am using tags again for the first time in a long time. We'll see how all this goes.
