Watching his acting in this video is just amazing. One of the reasons I love Michael ball so much, not only does he have an absolutely amazing voice but his facial expressions match the song. This was so very intimate, sent shivers down my arms.
This is amazing, they have great chemistry, their voices blend beautifully and the way they react to each other shows the control the phantom has over her but also how she affects him. Michael’s acting and singing really draw you in. Plus he is good looking.
Absolutely speechless. Michael Ball is absolutely phenomenal, his emotion and acting are amazing. When he enters, the way he sings it he sort of moans over the top of each note he sings (particularly with "my power over you) to give it this amazing sensuous sound. Masterful rendition
Wow, where has he been? Amazing emotion...He is the only Phantom who seems to enter an ecstatic state when she sings...that's what the story is all about. He does it just superbly...
Agreed. Music is the conduit for the Phantom’s emotions and desires to be expressed - which is why I LOVED the absolute sensuality AND sexuality of this performance. He basically gets off from her singing, and vice versa. This was perfect!!!
@@mattwood1562 To become attracted to or sexually aroused by intelligence and its use...Sapiosexual...just looked it up! The sexual or spiritual attraction to intelligence. Sometimes referred to as 'sapiosexual', a neologized word meaning a person who is sexually aroused by or is attracted to intelligence in others. Etymology: (sapiosexual; from the latin roots sapien, wise or intelligent, and sexualis, relating to the sexes).
I have never heard a song so powerful... so sensual and so seductive as this one sang by this incredible due. It infuses such of a mix of emotions. .. And they are absolutely better than anybody else. What a performance. Michael and Leslie are simply the best !!!!
Sometimes I'm shocked Michael Ball never played the Phantom. His voice is perfect, and he might have seemed like more of a nice guy Raoul type (i.e., not dark enough), but he was always so completely sensual. Oh my gosh, his face when he listens to her singing. It's flawless.
How hot does Michael Ball look in this video? I cry every time I watch it. Why was he never the Phantom? And does Leslie Garrett know how lucky she was?
Wow, i actually thought he played phantom but I guess he played the other guy. He is more natural of a phantom than a inspector Javier. That one is just to weird. But he makes a very good/creepy phantom lol.
This is absolutely intoxicating. I just want to watch this over and over again. Michael's voice and performance are absolutely mesmerizing. Lesley is a phenomenal Christine! He is the ultimate sexy Phantom.
Listen with my eyes closed, it sent chills down my spine. Watch it and listen again, MB's facial expressions is hauntingly freezing my spine. And Leslie's voice is mesmerising!
I've never thought Micheal Ball could be Phantom, but his voice is surprisingly fitting for the role here! I wonder why he didn't play the Phantom before.
***** You mean Cameron said he would fit as Raoul or Phantom? I have a feeling I'd enjoy him more as the Phantom than Raoul. I mean, I love his voice and all, but I don't like the way he portrayed Raoul, too much Marius-ness.
Tan Nguyen ***** Michael played Raoul back in 87/88 - at that time he was too young to play the Phantom. He was a great Raoul (one of my favourites along with Steve Barton). He has been asked to play the Phantom in later years but have never had the time(or maybe he doesn't want to). (as for the "under less pressure" comment - that was because Michael at the time suffered from greatly from panic attacks which resulted in him leaving Les Mis and shutting himself away in his flat for a time)
***** True, but that wasn't the main reason for him not being cast as the Phantom - it was his age. (he would have been about 25 years old at that time)
***** Michael's Christines were; Sarah Brightman, Rebecca Caine, Claire Moore and Jan Hartley-Morris. I know Sarah, Rebecca and Claire are a couple of years older than Michael. I don't know how old Jan is, but I'm guessing it's about the same.
Oh, wow! I didn't think Michael Ball would be a Phantom, his crooner voice always seemed so perfect Raoul. I stand corrected. He can do anything it seems!
Ive seen these 2 perform on stage together they are amaizing. They have a wonderful friendship and chemistry that shows in every song they sing together. Love them both.
The best version of this song i have ever heard absolutely love it. Have watched this so many times and cannot get bored of it, it is amazing their voices blend together so well and neither is straining to keep up with the other.
Their voices are so perfectly matched - goosebumps all over! Lesley looks absolutely stunning and Michael looks younger than - so handsome. The best version and visual I have seen.
I play the video and say to myself, "I remember this... it was great! Why haven't I watched it more?" Michael appears, and I say, "Oh, yeah. He was too good."
@@krystalharwood7842 Ah nice, whereabouts?? Last time I went to the US was in Seattle way back in Summer of 2018! Have you been to the UK before? + what were the first musicals/plays did you ever see on stage??
I am JUST now seeing this for the first time ever...I have many thoughts. And feelings. 1. How MB never played the Phantom is beyond me. As I’ve read from earlier comments, and agree - he would be a wonderful villain. 2. I don’t even smoke and I think I need a cigarette after watching this. Damn, that turned me on! 3. I enjoyed them making the song uniquely theirs. Meaning, not the same exact staging/blocking or even the style of singing...but captivating nevertheless. 4. Michael’s expressions. Mon Dieu. 🔥 5. How he would say “yes” instead of always saying “sing, sing my angel...” so, so very sexual. WHOA. Yep. I enjoyed this TOO MUCH!
He was the 2nd London Raoul, but no - he's never played the Phantom. He's been asked to do it in the past, but it never fit with his other commitments. It's not too late for him to play the role though - so we can hope.
I'm very fond of Michael Ball and today I first heard the voice of the beautiful Lesley Garrett in 'The Sound Of Music' and my new favourite on stage singer my 2 faves together was awesome.
Damn, Michael Ball is awesome here. Well, he's awesome all the time, but he really brings something different to this song. Ramin is probably my favorite Phantom but I would definitely pay money to see Michael Ball play it.
Damn! That was pure fire! I felt it on every level! That was so powerful. I'm just coming back down to earth now. Those voices were beyond! Thank you for transporting me! Amazing talent!
Exactly this. They're reacting to each other. It's sensual and intense. The other Christine's tend to just stand there with their mouth open. Nicole S actually did quite an emotive performance but nothing compared to this.
finally a singer to do justice to the Phantom. in all the online versions of the songs i could find (including the movie) Christine was fabulous, but the Phantom's voice lacked force and energy. Michael Ball has indeed a fabulous voice conveying a wide range of emotions : from the gentleness of Marius to the blood curdling creepyness of Sweeney Todd. the Phantom is somewhere in between.
