I used to hate Michael Bay. But I got smarter thatn that. He's genuinely in love with filmmaking. Look at his enthusiasm when he talks the technical stuff. He puts a lot of effort into what he does. That alone deserves some respect. He is, I think, one of the best directors in terms of production. Storytelling and some decisions in visual style are subject to criticism, as well as stories themselves and direction of acting, but damn do his movies look solid.
@Onmysheet

Ever since Michael Bay mentioned last year that the movie will be shooting in 3D with the 3D camera crew of Avatar, I became totally fascinated by the whole process. This video really puts an even better insight on it. I always thought that shooting with 3D cameras was just as simple as shooting it and then you're done but what they say totally addresses that and helps the audience understand that no matter if it is shot with 3D cameras or post converted, it is still a complicated process

James Cameron is one of the best directors of the era and the winner of several Oscar awards and the owner of the best-selling films in the history of cinema, but Michael Bay has also made the best action films with the best skills. The main difference between these two people is that if you take the technology and special effects from James Cameron, he will not be able to make an action movie, but Michael Bay himself will be able to do this. He can make his own movies with the camera in hand and his editing.

Difference between a good director and a great one: that last answer. Bay made it all about himself and the new toy that he gets to use. Cameron says it's about the audience and how their visual experience is enhanced wit the use of 3D cameras. Great directors are always more concerned for their audience than they are for themselves. Bay's still good though.

I like 3D only if it's used correctly, sometimes 3D now a day's is being used as a gimmick, just so people can waste more money, very few director's know how to use 3D, such as James Cameron, Robert Zemeckis, and most recently, the director's from the old day's that are completely unfamiliar with 3D use it perfectly, such as Steven Spielberg for Tintin, and Martin Scorsese for his masterpiece "Hugo", Micheal Bay uses 3D fairly good, so does Dreamworks Animation. more directors should do the same

Plus I said if you're going to use CGI, at least a damn story behind it. Note I didn't bash Terminator 2, that has CGI yet the story of the film was pretty incredible. If you have a good story, shows work was done in the film.

Prometheus will be in 3D so it is not unlikely that we will get a Cameron/Scott interview. But I don't think Cameron is very interested in changing Ridley Scott's mind. He is very old. Cameron's biggest targets are Michael Bay and Christopher Nolan because both of them are young, they make blockbusters and they have huge fanboy crowds. Both of them actually disliked 3D but Cameron was able to convince Bay. Let's see what Nolan'll do. He opposes Cameron in digital vs analog issue also.

Bay kept cutting the dude off before finishing his sentence. Like dude take a breath and let him finish.

Dialogue okay, narratives fine you got me there, character development is a basic film need, every film MUST include it so that doesn't really count mate. As I mentioned, if you want to show of CGI, please put in a nice story. I stick to tradition film making, cause it's art and it is actual film making, not depending on computers to do your job. Creating a language is hard, but no biggie, just extra support to the story.

no not every film needs character devolpment zero dark thirty has no character devolpment at all and looks how great that came out. thats just a recent movie there are more examples. the smart thing cameron is doing is waiting to make avatar 2 and 3 to provide the full on back storys. avatar is already too long if he were to provide back storys it would have been 7 hrs long so he dealt with that situation correctly but dialogue welll.... you know

you just changed the subject compeltly but fine. forget transformers they are not movies just commercials. but, is there any othwer way to make another world as convincing as avatar without the way james cameron did it? if they shot it live it would still look like earth and it wouldnt work. if thats not your thing thats completely fine its your opinion but im just saying

I'm sure there are other directors out there who can do exactly what Bay did for Transformers, thing is I'm sure it's not their style too, movies like Transformers are high in demand so some sad reason.
