Yes, a beautifully organic sound Visa. Its the Oberheim Expander, a module of the Matrix 12, arguably the richest and warmest analog synth ever.www.vintagesynth.com/oberheim/xpander.php
Miss him! Saw him so many times at the North Sea Jazz Festival. This is a great rendition on the EWI. So much emotion. One of the greatest Jazz artists ever. RIP Mike! Your music lives.
A man who was never satisfied with his achievements and was constantly learning/searching. A true artist. I heard that during the last years or so, he was learning to play some kind of bulgarian saxophone-like instrument. Mike forever. I only regret that I haven't had a chance to see and listen to him live. I saw his brother Randy though :-)
+Maurizio Goetz Every time there's a comment here i can't help listen to this piece, it's very moving for me because of some reasons, but the music made by those two guys here is so deep that i have usually some tears because of the beauty :)
oh yes we miss him, but look at what he've done and gave to us, he Is and always be a genius ! the sensibility and emotions here are incredible and Mike is doing so well too, duet of genius !
Many would-be Organic Real Jazz artists were truly in their Right Mind when they decided to play *Pop, RnB, Country & Western, Gospel, Nursery Rhymes, Hymnals, Lullabies and/or Folklore after having heard Michael Brecker's Organic Real Jazz onslaught - a la John Coltrane. "WE" are however rewarded with a misnomer called "Smooth Jazz", which is cool, smooth, relaxing, calm and quiet - but NOT JAZZ. Jazz calls for much dedication, discipline, diligence, devotion, commitment... Correctly, so! Let's ask, among many others, Chris Potter, Courtney Pine, James Carter. Ryan Delvin, Chad L.B., Nathan Garbeal (sp.), Caleb A...(sp.), George Gorgone, Jerry Bergonzi (sp.), Joshua Redman. It is instead Instrumental Pop, RnB ... nonetheless, good music - not Jazz. Michael Brecker is still "DANGEROUS" despite his not being PHYSICALLY present! Any live performance with him on soprano saxophone? That's "danger"; isn't it? Thanks for posting! Lohvissimo!
Thanx! I know he used xPanders, because I saw im in the Royal Conservatoire in the Netherlands in '88. They coulnd't get a hold of xPanders, so they got two Matrix 1000's, or something similar. Thanx for the update my friend!
Ask to Pat Metheny, if you don’ t Know this fantastic Guitar player, take a minute to listen -are you going with me- he plays with his synth/guitar and you should be amazed by the sounds he can produce then, maybe you find a way to Check with what Kind of stuff he can do that ( easy to find on a record i think 🤔🤔......if theses informations may help you
Mainieri here is playing a Oberheim, i think Oberheim Obx-a. Behind he has a Yamaha DX7, but he doesn't play this on that theme. And Brecker plays the Akai EWI using the Oberheim Xpander 🙏😊
