MICHAEL BURKS never got the true fame he so richly deserved, just a great guitarist, with true feeling, timing and tone, and a wonderful voice to go with it, this is just one of his great songs!!!!
As is the case with too many talented artists, it took the news of his death for me to discover his music. Meanwhile we are polluted with pop garbage, whilst 'talent' shows are forced down our throats. There is so much great music out there, such a shame its often hard to find! RIP Michael Burks, now to purchase your back catalogue!
Wasn't aware of Michael until he passed away. It is a shame. People like him should be here for long. They have so much to give, so much to teach. RIP Michael.
The blues is directly flowing from his heart and soul into his fingers ... leaving us behind astonished. It's the first time I heard this man playing ... It's a pity I was too late.
I saw this Man of The Blues so very many times. Never was disappointed, always a great show . He passed about 30 years to soon. One awesome entertainer. We will all miss one hell of a Man.
Man, gone too soon! I'm gonna miss you blessing the stage here in Chicago at Legends! RIP! My thoughts and prayers are with the Burks family and close friends!
we are gonna miss you at the king biscuit this year. used to love it when you would walk like 200 ft out in the middle of the crowd playing your mighty solos!!! RIP IRONMAN
That's cool. Son Seal used to do that too back in the 70s. He used to walk out into the crowd with a looooong guitar cable wound up around his left arm, slowly unspooling it as he made his way through the venue. Made it look effortless.
Man It's 5 months later and I'm still heartbroken..Cant understand why we lost him so young.. Rest in peace IronMan !! Mayb if I'm a good person, we will some day meet in another life!!
The studio version of this is the bomb too. Get it on iTunes. Support Burks. He's gonna need a big bucket of ribs every day when he retires some day...
Michael Burks, man.... I found out about in in a Tonequest Report V4 N 12. October 2003 cover story, a great article, well written; what a man, humble. I read the article and put it away. Yesterday evening I dug it out and and just now looked him up here today and had the chance to see him at this particular show and didn't. What a blues man did I miss. You Tube is all I have now. Thanks for posting this and thank you You Tube.
