Michael Cheika was asked to interview Eddie Jones in the lead up to the England vs Australia clash. Watch the full interview here. With thanks to Amazon Prime Video.
What a great interview! Two old mates enjoying each others company yet both went from their club to the top of the world stage. Beautiful to see. Should have had a beer each!
People always forget Eddie had Marcus in camp, labelled as an apprentice years before press and social media were bursting blood vessels, giving him sh about not selecting him over Ford.
Excellent. Sets the bar. After the game is done the bonds of true mates is always there. It's a game, not war-fare to the knife.....Great 'Troll Killer' video mind you!
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XfR9iY5y94s.html interesting interview after the last few days. Some things are fairly damning, beyond that Eddies commitment to being a "good rugby man" is clear. Good on ya mate 🍻 was a good run
These two are the 8th and 9th most effective Wallaby coaches. 57.89% (EJ) and 50% (MC). [Team avg: 59% P400, W284, L205, D10]. DNI Rennie's record. 20/8/9/3 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia_national_rugby_union_team_coaches (interactive)
You have to ask hiw Eaj has been so successful with England. Australian rugby really let down Chek's from an overseas point of view, the problem appeared to be right at the top, and coaches and players paid the price.
@@CH-yp5by Unless the day of the natural Aussie sportsman is truly done and dusted then what's missing is a management team that absolutely gets the importance of the Bledisloe and other silverware. Do they really expect the WRC final to be the Wobblies v. Cambodia Girls XV?
And that ladies and gentlemen is why interviewers should be qualified enough to have an opinion; it legitimizes their right to ask the questions and you get genuinely insightful interviews. Gripping..
@James Drake I really enjoyed your well earned rant 🙂. All correct. My personal interview fantasy is that someone would call out the curse of the double-negative. Q: "Do you not think that was the right thing to do?" A: "No". Q: "So you think it was the wrong thing to do!". A: No, I just thought it wasnt not the right thing to do. Q:............
Fascinating interview, great to hear Eddie expand on his approach for coaching England. Interesting to hear he watched Marcus Smith playing for Brighton College in 2015 and was on his radar since then.
It's so good to see these lads talking comfy. This might sound like trash talk but I don't mean it that way; What is it with Aussie coaches? Like, Unions not even your biggest sport but half of the best coaches in the world are Aussie. Do you reckon there is something in the sport culture there? I reckon Hooper would make a fantastic coach once he hangs up his boots.
The answer is in the question. NRL has been professional far longer, if you watched both sports you would see how much they've copied defensive styles and attacking lines of league.
I just love the way rugby guys talk. Without giving away too much tactical detail, they don't talk in platitudes or give the usual BS answers the football managers do, but give direct and considered opinions. Two Ockers having a bit of banter about the best game in the world, England and the WC to come, love it! Go Eddy on to 2023!
This was fascinating and refreshing - Eddie was far more open and honest so we get to see some of the method behind the madness. Greatness respects greatness
Got to say this was a great interview between friends about the game we all love. Previously I thought Cheika was a massive chopper but he clearly isn't.
Great interview! Eddie is always fun to watch at a presser, but this was fun, he was so relaxed and honest, I wish we could see this more from the top flight coaches.
Jones could've done the same with the wallabies if australian rugby had the resources which they dont at the moment. England finally got their finger out when they got romped at the '15 world cup by the aussies. England have nearly a 10 game winning streak against the aussies now funnily enough.
