After showing me his most recent painting still in progress, on the easel, Francis handed me a collection of portrait photographs by John Deakin. “Muriel” he said, “She had an extraordinary beauty.”
After filming Tilda Swinton in her hotel suite over a quarter of a century later I would say the same of her, “She has an extraordinary beauty,” and not without reason, Derek Jarman wrote of her as “Sparkling like the evening star in the quirky skies of my films.”
