“Tomorrow, jurors in former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial are expected to hear from the prosecutions star witness, Michael Cohen. He is Donald Trump's former lawyer and personal fixer, and he matters here because he made a $130,000 payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign to buy her silence about an extramarital sexual encounter that she says she had with Trump a decade earlier. Cohen was then reimbursed by Trump, and this is where prosecutors say the crime occurred. They say that in an effort to conceal the true nature of those payments, the reimbursements were labeled as legal expenses, and that was an effort to falsify the business records. Trump has denied the relationship with Stormy Daniels, and he has denied that there was anything improper that went on during any part of this case.”

Jurors in former President Donald Trump's hush money trial will hear from the star prosecution witness, Michael Cohen.
Cohen was once Trump’s lawyer and personal fixer.
Associated Press reporter Eric Tucker explains Cohen’s significance to the case.
“He matters here because he made a $130,000 payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign to buy her silence about an extramarital sexual encounter that she says she had with Trump a decade earlier. Cohen was then reimbursed by Trump, and this is where prosecutors say the crime occurred,” Tucker said.
