Neil Jordan's "Michael Collins" is the story of Irish revolutionary Michael Collins. The film takes place during Ireland's revolutionary period (starting with the 1916 Easter Rising and culminating in Collins' assassination during the Irish Civil War).
The film itself is essentially a gangster film set in early 20th century Ireland featuring Alan Rickman as a fairly spot-on Eamon de Valera and Julia Roberts sporting one of the worst Irish accents ever committed to film.
