Jack Lynch was taoiseach of the freestate in 1972. This ceremony was in the lead up to our referendum on EEC accession. Interestingly we couldn't join the EEC until the UK joined it for some reason....
@@jamesdolan4042 by we I meant the citizens of the freestate of which I'm one. Its an insult to republicans in the six counties to call the Freestate the Republic of Ireland.
@@johnmurdoch8534 Better economy, , right to divorce and remarry, sexual liberation, contraception, equal marriage, right to abortion, better roads, less under the control of church dogma, free university education, people have more holidays and more wealth. Yes it’s terrible today.
