@@scooterkiddynamyte1712 No Dyson had a point. His point was that Kapernick loves football. Charlamagne completely moved the goal post, Dyson was talking about Kap being able to play. How is an income stream supposed to help with that? That's why Dyson agreed about having a different income stream, because that's not what he was talking about in the 1st place.
People in the comments upset that he gives Jay his flowers while he alive but then say black folks don’t until someone die Y’all mad corny. The system ain’t built for us. What you do is learn the system and beat the system. It’s all a game and if you know you know 🤷🏽♀️ Get your credit up/ leverage it to get funding from them/ buy some assets to pay off the funding/get the profits It’s that simple.
I was just setting up to type basically 90% of what you said until I read your comment. Thank you sis, sometimes the fake woke bravery that happens behind these sell screens will never lead to any action or motivation to maneuver our people in a more positive direction or give any credit. Everything I've read about Harriet Tubman would make me think that she wouldn't of just shot the weak but also she would have shot anyone who would have turned around and started trying to kill people who were more light-skinned then they were too. Because she would have known that it was about figuring out a way to express their hatred forever . They're never satisfied
Jay damn near 50, it ain't hard to google and see what he has done. Let Kaep young ahh blind yall if you wanna. Keep living. Only a matter of for Kaep to slip up and offend you, he young. I guess black folks will turn on and tear him down too. Smh🤦🏿♂️
But why we always have to conflate our struggle with the LGBTQ struggle? And we can’t be critical of Israel or Jews? We get “Cancelled” if we oppose them. But wait? I thought we had freedom of speech under the 1st Amendment? Something ain’t right about that and our so called intellectuals are co opting this censorship movement!!
Michael Eric Dyson's perspective on The Kaepernick/NFL dilemma is the most well-rounded I've heard. He has a balanced view of all sides of the situation. (Kaepernick, NFL, Jay-Z and Stephen A.)
His perspective fell apart to me like the typical boomer when you extend his ideas to their logical conclusion. Perhaps I'm used to debating professors but he admitted his flawed thinking like how he's from the black respectability generation where token negros made strides at the expense of their dignity and fellow black people. Think the talented 10th and even some of our most prolific geniuses ended up broke and poor barely eke out an existence. The whole issue is the waiver and you can't throw that out. His lawyer said it would be malpractice to let his client sign that. I don't get it. Maybe it's football but if this was a police department, I wonder if Eric Dyson would make the same comments when we know the criminal justice system doesn't treat black men fairly. There are several black men on probation or doing jail time for crimes they didn't commit because their public defender told them to plead out and they didn't have a good lawyer to advise them otherwise. Smh. I expected better.
@@dariusd2003 I agree with u on this. M.Eric Dyson's perspective was just as weak as when he tried to school Bill Maher on the N-word.. And who wants to hear flattery of another all the time when your seeking something more intellectual.

Victoria Moses you can’t transfer nor transform racism/white supremacy. 400 yrs. of historical proof shows this. When you have a disease, you have to eliminate from the body or die prematurely
I wish y’all would listen to the entire interview and get the whole message instead of simply seeing the name Jayz (who some people dislike anyway and want to bash regardless of the context) and not miss the substance of what he’s discussing. 💎
Brother welcome to the black people’s mind. All what he said was brushed aside because they only hear he writes about Jay-Z. If we black people don’t grow out of this mindset our children to come will always be the underdogs.
Eazy November substance?? Where was it brotha? A lot of jay z dick eating and rhyme spitting.. then his advice for Kaep is to go through with the workout anyway. Even tho they wanted Kaep to sign away his rights. What type of shot is that? That’s not substance. That’s kow towing. That’s advice from a man who clearly has an agenda. What’s the point of bringing up Jackie Robinson and Ali and Jack Johnson? If Ali taught us anything. It’s that black people should stand and fight for their principles.
And when you are peddling a book about your friend. Dyson loves to run his mouth and dazzle listeners with SAT words and say a lot of nothing. Jay Z has NO POWER in regards to the NFL. He is an entertainment pawn.
Dyson compared Jay Z and the NFL to MLK Jr and UNITED STATES civil rights movement. I understand it, but it doesn't compare based on impact to black people

"The historic black obligation has been, no matter what white supremecy presents as a limitation or an option, you transform it, transfigure it through the genius of your black expression" Michael Eric Dyson Wow!
The mythology of the necessity for uniformity and unity among black people undercuts the vibrant diversity and rambunctious complexity of our existence.
I used to support and had some degree of respect for Michael Eric Dyson, but now that it's become obvious that he's joined the wicked industry clique to help push this demonic narrative about Jay Z being the voice of Black culture (Al Sharpton's and Jessie Jackson's replacement moving forward...and notice how Al and Jessie have been suddenly deprogrammed and silenced) and continues to keep Jay Z's nuts in his mouth, I have officially cancelled him and put him on mute. I'm so sick of this group think doctrine being forced down society's throats. Jay Z is a mess just like his face and hair and he's not my leader and he NEVER will be.
The problem with Cynthia Errivo playing Harriet Tubman was the fact the she insulted African-Americans many times on the social media and then turns around and plays one of the most Iconic African-Americans ever. Stop trying to make this about AA not liking her because shes is not from here.
I don't know of one person who has not grown up ignorant to who they are and what they are saying. The question is have they matured and now know better. I’ve learned from Dr. Michael Eric Dyson and he has shifted my career and my thinking and I love him dearly. However, please be critical of Jay z as you were of the 44th President. Jay Z did sell out Kap. If he has helped Colin get a try out it was bc he was he was already planning his stake in NFL all while trying to help so-called help Colin. Jay z is in my top 5 but he was being strategic in his motive at the expense of Kap the whole time. Jay z ain’t crazy. I love Jayz, I love Kap, I love Dr Dyson. But, let’s critic honestly and in love 💙
How did he sell out Kap if he was a big factor in him getting a chance in the first place ? Like come on, yall gotta stop creating an agenda and take things for what it is. Jay Z actually stepped up to the plate and tried to help, that doesnt sound like a sell out to me. Your statement is literally the problem Dr. Dyson was talking about . Always calling another black a sell out when trying to make moves when helping others in the community. Im curious if you were in Jay position within the situation, what would you do? Like come on, Thats the problem. Black people quick to call a successful black person a sell out but are giving no solutions to make change.
@@Remnant.Garments7 So Jay helped Kap out by organizing a sham workout? The evidence suggests that the purpose of the sham workout was to get his signature on a document which would prevent him from suing them again.
I said the same thing about the beehive and Jay fans. Just last year, they would dog people for not agreeing with Kap and kneeling but since Jay said they're past it, they're talking about Kap like he was never for the community smh
Yeah, but they say the good Dr. has health problems. But nah the breakfast club will max out with Umar Johnson & Tariq Nasheed as far as REAL black thought interviews are concerned. They will have Dyson on all day.
He wasn't preaching. The Harriet movie was boycotted due to Cynthia's lack of transparency with her possible slave trading background, and her and everyone on the movie refused to speak out against Comcast who owns the rights to the movie. In real time Comcast is undoing the 14th amendment Harriet lived to see the passage of and fought for. Not to mention the fact Harriet never identified as African and once when asked should we go back she said no. She identified as American. So the statement that Cynthia had more of right is an slap in the face to us and our American ancestors whose bones are here unlike Cynthia's ancestors. A West African having more of a right to play an American? Now if you want real preaching and ready for real work. Tune into Yvette Carnell's Channel on YT tonight at 10 PM. The book we are reading for the book club is called : "They were her property" It will be discussed end of January. Tonight Yvette might be talking about this pseudo intellect. He's the reason why African Americans should be banned from academia. Stem only. Academia doesn't produce Black revolutionary people. His boots are on the ground. His boots are in a top 30 school with a 8% Black student body, which half are probably Black immigrants. Have a blessed day and Tune into Yvette tonight.
Financial guru Suze Orman sued Merrill Lynch while working there and kept her job. Look it up. Moorish empire Moor 711-1492 total different conversation. He is talking about mindset, & ways of handling things. Which indeed does have a huge impact of the progress of the community. Like he said, MLK never played the victim game. He stood for what he believed in and fought what was against him. No finger pointing.
the suppression of leadership, the culture embracing ignorance at every turn, not investing in black business, letting the government into our houses (benefits)... yeah we need change. We need to hold on to our dollars like every other ethnicity does.

Michael Dyson was one of my favorite people for the last few years. In Iraq, as an escape, i read his book to help me mentally but the support for Stephen "Toby" Smith got me confused. Stephen was preaching with an hidden agenda and Eric is aware of this but failed to admit it.

This is one of the best interviews the Breakfast Club has ever done. Dyson nailed the issues I have with the black community and "cancel culture". We're the only ones out here doing that bullshit too. No wonder our advancements are so few and far between these days.
@@RaychelleofSunshine basically tweeted how black Americans talked ghetto and also she is to uppity to ever send kids to HBCU. You know the general stereotypes.
The Jay-Z/ Kaepernick debate is really a debate on symbolism vs actionable items. I think a large amount of us(black people) have confused symbolism with action. We think Martin Luther king marching was action, but him joining with president LBJ to sign the civil rights act as selling out. Confusing Obama singing Marvin Gays song or having blacks over at the White House as action, but Obama pushing for equal rights for gays ( which includes blacks) as selling out. I'm not saying symbolism is bad or not needed, what I am saying is we have been deprived as a people for so long that we are conditioned to confuse the two. Jay-Z was loved by blacks because he symbolized success and what a "black family should look like". He is now hated because he dared to produce an actionable item.
Greatest Of These is Love what’s wrong with that ... God’s name is YHWH not Jehovah ... Jehovah is what em you get when take the vowels from Adonai and put them in between the consonants of YHWH. We just made that name up.
Jeez! This is hard to listen to. Dyson is just an fan at this point. How do you compare J to MLK Jr. with a straight face? J’s primary focus is his own financial bottom line. Let’s not act like he’s making these grave sacrifices for the betterment of black folks. He’s not. He may have some personal projects that help individuals but he has also been the cause of black men going to jail. He is using the nfl to help himself just like him disparaging Kap is for himself, to ingratiate him with the team owners.
We should all focus on our own financial bottom line. Poor people cant help other poor people. We have this jacked up way of how black people should move forward because we seem to find some type of virtue in being poor. We put all these rules and guidelines on how to move forward when in reality we hold each other back. Money and wealth will always be an factor in anything we do. Black people keep asking for a seat at the table, instead of building your own table. And when we build our own table, then other black people are there to tell you that you didnt build your own table the right way an accuse you of being money hungry. So at the end of the day, you do what is best for your household and leave it at that.
Nikki Williams I’m not saying he shouldn’t, but let’s not lionize him and act like he is doing something selfless for black folks when he’s not. He is an opportunist and a business man neither are bad things. Yet him shrouding his business calculations for him and his family and acting like he is supporting Kaep or his cause is a lie.
@@Erin_Bee i understand what you are saying. But if jay z wasnt a billionaire, would we think he was doing things for the betterment of the people?
