Michael Greyeyes is a man to be admired. His talent speaks volumes and the character of a man that is admired and loved this much speaks to the fan base he has all over the world. There may be more well known actors but none better. He truly is one of the actors i feel has a great body of work in his life and more to come I hope. Yesterday I found a podcast with Michael Greyeyes where he tells the story of his life. I thought, perhaps he doesn't like the world knowing his vita, which some vips prefer in order to hide their private life from the eyes of the public. After the interview I think perhaps it is racism, that it isn't found anywhere else. It is strange, I live in Germany. Not long ago I associated with the term "racism" the Neonazis and the Jews, prejustices against the Turkish people, the Syrians or others, that came to my country as refugees. Now I see how widespread it is and how far it goes. Seeing the alcohol problems in the reservations dull and blind eyes judge quickly - for they don't ask for the reasons (and their own part in that history). But it is ashaming to see how native actors are treated: And it is more than just their flat parts in the scripts - such as interviewers standing at red carpets, who were too lazy to inform about a native actor, even if he plays a central character and not even beeing ashamed for this but making stupid comments on the fact that Michael is also a professor at university. The whole film industry earned a big part of their money on the back of the Native People - how many western are there? And I am ashamed, because living here in Germany, I didn't even notice what's going on. From childhood on I only was sad, that their roles were only so small.... and never in the focus.

And I discovered the Sami people. I allways thought of them like us Bavarians: A people belonging to a country but not so clearly differenced from the rest. Well, now I know they differ - and they are indigenous, too! There are a lot of similarities to the Native Americans: their nomadic lifestyle, tents, they like bright colours, their buffalos are their reindeer and they love nature, even their songs. the yoik, sounds similar in some way. They even were at standing rock! And they were discriminated and the dominant culture also wanted to arase their tradition, language and way of life. Did you know, that Santa Claus has his "Rudolph" from an advertising gimmik of a Sami, that lived in in Alaska?
