Welcome to the Letterman RU-vid Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. The language may strike you as quaint & flowery, the clothing comically lacey & ornate - but that’s how things were back in this colorful and now bygone era.

It always strikes me how different the tone of late night was back then, much more natural, not a lot of manufactured laughs, editing and such. You even have those quiet, award moments that happen naturally. Miss it.
@DrVVVinK
@DrVVVinK Год назад
That's because back then there was no youtube or on demand. Late night was for the weirdo, night owls, college crowed up late. It was only meant to be seen once, and if you missed it (unless you had a VCR to record it) when it aired, you never saw it. Now "late night tv" is not really "late night", because it isn't made for that crowed, but for youtube clips to watch at 2 in the afternoon, while one is at work and hardly working.

@@DrVVVinK I'm a weirdo who doesn't work and love to watch the early releases like Seth Myers Closer Look and Jimmy Kimmel, but also prefer to wait for Colbert monologue upload right around midnight after it's actually aired, or even John Oliver right after it's aired. Anywho, peace to all the freaks ✌️🤘

This is pure Letterman legend! He asks questions that nobody else asks. He makes him uncomfortable about, "Teen Wolf". He asks direct questions about money/gross/net. MJ Fox is a trooper, and he handles it well. I wish more celebrities would not be threatened by honest (Lettermanesqe) interviews. The people love it!

I recall Mr. Letterman putting together a celebrity short film festival. He requested that celebrities make a short film. The only short I remember from that episode was the one submitted by Mr. Fox. It dealt with the juxtaposition of a symphony orchestra and a hockey team.

These shows have a pre-interview so that Dave knows what to ask. So MJF would have already talked about this with someone a little earlier. (Fred, perhaps?) These questions are not exactly coming out of left field.
@leonardstilwell1894
@leonardstilwell1894 Год назад
My comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek as I know talk show interviews are often pre-planned :) Even so, I could see MJF wondering why so many questions centered on his brushes with fame, but just shrugging it off and going woth the flow. I wonder if he found them boring and that informed his appearance that night.
