I love this demo a lot, but understand why it didn't make the cut. Sounds too much like everything else from that time, and MJ was an innovator, not a follower.

As time goes by, and as I discover demo after demo after demo of Michaels songs, I continue to build an absolute respect to the work ethic of this man, his creativity was immeasurable, in both song and dance. He is simply the greatest 👑👑
Updated synth sounds and production could have easily elevated this. This and a few of the other unreleased songs I think could have easily replaced some of the weaker tracks on Dangerous. Honestly this feels in spirit closer to a throwback to the 70s funky pop with a new flavor, which is exactly what I wish mike had leaned into more

I know this a demo but i'm without a doubt, that if they had further worked on the production of this song ,and added it on the album ,it would have been a hit. This is classic michael with the contemporary beat of that time

@@25minuteman30 brad bruxer (one of michael's producers/collaborators at the time) did most of the composing. michael was disinterested in the project. ice cap zone is a remake of a song called 'hard times' he did with a band called the jetzons
According to an itw of Bryan Loren (2016 september, France), Michael was not really convinced by singing the same he did when he was 10, that's why he ultimately refused the track
I've found that there are many tracks that would have had great potential between MJ and Prince, such a shame there was never a Collab although BAD was close

Looking back, MJ really found his nitch in gearing up with Teddy Riley. Songs like these weren't bad, but not as stomping as what he would all release on the masterpiece DANGEROUS.
@@alyssajones4368 Michael knew he had to evolve with the times.Dangerous still sounds futuristic and its been 30 years since its release.this IS not Quincy by the way..its another producer trying to capture the Quincy sound with a Jackson 5 vine with a new flavour.sounds cool but great for an álbum of the late 80s. If MJ had released this in 1989 It would have been a good hit.but It sounds too old fornthe 90s
Agreed. Whilst I love hearing these Bryan Loren demos, a lot of them end up sounding very "samey" From a commercial perspective it wouldn't have had the same impact Dangerous did.
