It’s funny how Michael makes his music I love that he used beatboxing to put the stuff in his head out there. The man could not read sheet music but was one of the best beetboxers and so could show the producers how he wanted things to sound
Actually all guitars and bass, except the solo in the middle by Eddy Van Halen, are by another incredible session musician; Steve Lukather. of Toto's fame... he has contributed music to more than 1500 records.
Eddie Van Halen not only contributed the iconic guitar solo (only the solo) for free, he was in the studio and rearranged the song to make it better. He was uncredited because his band had a clause, but all his bandmates were out of town.
EVH's style of playing was so complex that they had to find a way to write sheet music for those who wanted to learn how to play the songs he's played. Check out the documentary 'Thriller 40' if you have a chance, it's a good look at the behind the scenes of that album, 40 years after its release.
Steve Lukather played all the guitar parts on this song, apart from the solo (which was done by Eddie Van Halen). Lukather was better known for being the guitarist in Toto. He’s generally considered one of the greatest and most sought after session guitarists ever. A true legend
Michael was the best, there will never be anyone who compares. He had such a sad life and left us way too soon. I have the making of This Is It tour on DVD but it makes me cry to see what the world lost, so I don't watch it often.
The funniest thing for me with the Beat It video is watching all the thugs in the backgrounds messing up the dance steps in thw background. It is hilarious.
I watch your reaction videos to be introduced to artists I wouldn't normally be familiar with. The young man in this video seems very talented. I hope he had a successful career.
So, everybody knows that EVH did the solo, but what most ppl don't know is that when Eddie brought the solo to Michael, he said that he had also changed the arrangement a little. Michael was visibly perturbed, but when he listened to it, he said that it was better and he liked it.
Where did you read that Michael Jackson was perturbed that Ed changed the arrangement? I’ve never read or heard that anywhere. If anything, Michael Jackson DID say that he was blown away that Ed cared enough to actually do that to make the solo section work better.
I feel He cracks his voice on "scared" because this gives the sence of a weeping, or something. This is just giving you chills, like some is scared and wants to scream. This is a kind of a "scream" I think. Love it too ❤
Eddie Van Halen only played the solo 6:59. The rest of the guitar work was done by session musician Steve Lukather. The Isolated Tracks channel has video of this song with just the guitar parts, and Lukather talks about doing Beat It on Rick Beato's 2nd channel.
Eddie loaned out his guitar solo talent in other places too, like the "alien" encounter in Back to the Future, when Marty McFly wakes up George with a solo by Eddie.
Still to this day if somebody asks me what song i think is the best one of all my answer is Beat it 😍 btw the riffs is played by Steve Lukather from Toto, EVH only played in the solo. Absolutely fantastic song
Eddie actually changed the song while he was trying to figure out the guitar solo part. Michael came in and Eddie said I hope you don't mind that I changed it. Michael loved the guitar solo and went with Eddies version.
I'm happy that I had the opportunity to go to a Michael Jackson concert in his Dangeous tour, it was fantastic, and for obvious reasons, I won't have that experience again. That was in Dublin.
that's called a "snooker" table !! ... it's supposed to be that way - the game is MUCH harder & totally different !! ...it's hard to explain, you'll have to find it on wikipedia.
@@markhellman-pn3hn Snooker has holes too :) The table without them is either called "Carom billiards", or "carambole billiards". Some also call it French billiards.
@@markhellman-pn3hn ever watched a snooker game or tournament on TV? Or just try it on YT. You will see that Snooker is played on a table with holes. How else would you pocket a red ball and a colored ball, one after the other? xd
A very nice & beautiful reaction video I've discovered here by you, today. In addition & either as a song just to listen to for fun or react to & that Michael Jackson made; and is one that I think not many people know of, is the 1 named; "Give In To Me". Further more I thank & appreciate you for the content you make and share with people, & I hope you continue to do the good job you've been doing so far as well.
I've never actually heard it explained how Eddie Van Halen rearranged the song. The guitar solo itself is pretty much done over a verse section, so it makes me wonder if he suggested to Lukather to have that "Beat It" background singing breakdown over E to lead into the solo section. A lot of VH music has that quality, a breakdown section after a chorus to lead into the guitar solo, with the breakdown or the solo sometimes even being in the relative minor key to the song's major key.
Don't feel bad Maggie because "I've been passing time watching trains go by all of my life. Stephen Bishop - It might be you also from the movie Tootsie. You might want to check that song out.
The parody of this song is called FAT. It is by 'Wierd' Al Yankovic. And it is split your gut funny. You might also try two of Michael's later hits like JAM and BLOOD ON THE DANCE FLOOR. They are rarely played on reaction channels. Enjoy
The stunning thing is Eddie did the solo for free....and got no writing credit for the song.....Eddie just basically did the solo and went.....there you go Michael...became a contention with the other members of Van Halen.
Eddie did this while the band was away. They agreed to not go outside the band to creat music. Eddie figured a young black artists was cutting a record. Who wud know that he helped. Eddie figured wrong.
LOL! Yes!! It's my favorite role! 🤗 Will be singing it in NY in May and in CA in July. You should join Patreon to follow my musical journey: www.patreon.com/MaggieRenee
Written by Michael Jackson. Legend 🙌 of a song 🎵 All-star 🌟 band. Greg Philinganes of the Lionel Richie band on synth. Members of Toto. Steve Lukather on rhythm guitar, Steve Porcaro on synth and his brother late Jeff Porcaro on drums. Late Eddie van Halen on the guitar 🎸 solo. His appearance was why his band Van Halen could not get the Number 1 album on the Billboard charts in 1984, 40 years ago 🎂 Shocking!! 🤯 but laughable L 🤣L In the same year, 1982, the Porcaro brothers, Steve Lukather and David Paich performed in studio 🎙 for their band Toto and more musicians (Michael McDonald, Chicago, Donna Summer, orhers). No wonder, members of Toto worked like a dog 🐕 L🤣L
I am! I actually have 2 projections on my computer monitors and one is bigger than the other, so sometimes it may look like I’m looking away, but it’s actually because I’m looking at the bigger version to see the details!

Fun fact, since Maggie mentioned the producer: the producer for "Beat It" and indeed the entire "Thriller" album, was the legendary Quincy Jones, who worked with Michael on several albums during this period, including (I believe) "Off the Wall", and the follow-up to "Thriller", which was "Bad". Those three albums were arguably the most popular and the most commercially successful of Michael's career.
@@for-house-stark What makes "Off the Wall" more significant than either of those albums is that it was Michael's first success as a solo artist -- by that I mean as an entity apart from his brothers. And it was also his first collaboration with Quincy Jones as a producer.
This song "Beat It: was produced by Michael and Quincy Jones. When it is a song that MJ wrote and co-wrote, it is always produced or co-produced by him. When it is songs that he did not write, such as Thriller, Rock With You, Human Nature, etc., the production is only directed by Quincy Jones.
Yeah, and that guy in the brown jacket behind the Choreographer kept screwing up at the end.. They should have put him in the back because he was lost out there..
Please react to the title track off of *Jung Kook’s debut album* . Much of the song is an *homage to Michael Jackson* . The song is *“Standing Next to You”* . There is also a *remix with Usher* , but I hope you will react to the original. Usher will include the remix on his upcoming album. His album has broken records and his pre-released song, “Seven” broke the record for fastest song to get 1 Billion streams on Spotify. (108 days, I believe) I watch your reaction to “Left to Right” and you mentioned Charlie Puth’s perfect pitch. Jung Kook also has perfect pitch. Charlie Puth said he is one of two or three singers who sent him Perfect vocals before. One was James Taylor and I can’t remember the other one. Just a little trivia.
I would love for you to do STRANGER IN MOSCOW by MJ. its such an underrated hit, and he beatboxes the entire rhythm section of the song. that song is entirely him.
