Do you think Beyonce has surpassed him? I definitely don't believe so. At least not yet. There was a discussion about this on Facebook. It appeared to me a younger generation believes Beyonce had already surpassed Michael. I'm quite a few years older haha and I just don't think she has done it. But just my opinion. Curious to know what others think. Wondering if it's a generational thing or perhaps a love for the current music style. At any rate the world does not dispute that Michael is still the reigning King of Pop. He retired that title.❤️
I’ve been beat boxing since I was about 8, so about 30 years, to beat box like this, it comes from deep within the soul, MJ had such a rhythmical energy, this is amazing!

There's some videos of his drummer "Sugarfoot" that was just amazing. He was a walking metronome. He got his name Sugarfoot because of the complex rhythms he could do with his feet.
It's a shame he never took the time to become proficient on any instrument in his decades of a musical career. I hear that even Madonna can play a song on the guitar. Every beat and note the musicians played had to be perfect. And Quincy made sure they were.

@Deen Brulic Definitely. He may not have invented beat-boxing, but he certainly did a lot to pioneer the technique and take it to new levels. One of the tracks he's most well known for is one that he did with Slick Rick and his own Get Fresh Crew called "The Show" which was featured in the movie "New Jack Hustler". It's widely considered to be one of the defining classics of that era of Hip-Hop, I would definitely check it out when you get the chance.
Mark Howard He was not. He was acquitted in 2005. That one-sided documentary just wanted money and get people’s sympathy for their agenda which is to destroy MJ’s legacy.
Man, no one making music today can beatbox even half as well as Michael could. He was an insanely gifted man when it came to music, singing, and dancing. May he rest in peace.
MJ is one of a kind for sure, and I like the sentiment of your comment, however I'd just like to point out that beatboxing has progressed light years beyond what's shown here. Check out a video by D Low if you want to see what's possible by today's beatboxers. Sadly so many people still belive this things the Media and others said about him... I really hope that you are going to change your mind on him one day, or at least dont call him something like that again.
Incredible. It's amazing how many times he had to defend the fact that he wrote the songs. He was always honest when someone co-wrote the song. He didn't claim things he didn't invented. His dance moves, he always mentioned by whom he was inspired. Never claimed he owned them. That doesn't mean that particular choreographies, weren't copyright protected. He shared them. He loved seeing people being influenced/inspired by his dancing. Today, 'artists' are suing people for dance moves.
Yeah, poor guy lived in court, everyone accusing him of plagiarism, paternity, sexual abuse, contract breaches, etc. No wonder he had problems to sleep. He always said that he wanted to be an innovator, to do things differently and he certainly did. The ones that accused him of plagiarism could only dream of writing songs like Michael's. He didn't even took credit for the Moonwalk, he said the kids dancing in the street invented it. God bless his soul.

It was always so interesting to listen to him talk. His entire life, his literal entire life was music and he has such a deep thought process when he talks about it. He doesn’t just sit and casually talk about it. During his conversations about music you can see his eyes wander into deep thought bringing up the process he went through to write even the simplest parts of his songs. His goal was to make every song a masterpiece in his own eyes and he never once failed at that. There will never be a musician as deeply devoted to the process of making good music as Michael Jackson. He was one of a kind and the world will never see his equal.

He was a phenomenal talent, he wrote so many songs and he doesn't even play an instrument. He gets a tune in his head, and he is able to translate it to musicians.
Michael could play guitar, keyboards, drums, and some others. However, he wasn't on a professional like Flea, Bootsy Collins, Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, Elton John, or Dave Grohl. A lot of musicians have different strengths and skills. Carlos Santana and Elton John can compose music, but not write lyrics. Ozzy Osbourne and Michael Stipe can sing but can't play instrument or write lyrics. Jim Morrison could write lyrics and melody, but knew very little piano. Morrissey could write songs, but doesn't play any instruments. Freddie Mercury could write lyrics and compose music, he was an expert piano player, amateur on guitar, and knew little drums. Trent Reznor plays expert level on guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, and saxophone plus write and compose. Rick James plays guitar, bass, keyboards, and drums, plus write and compose. Prince could play 27 instruments except wind instruments, write and compose but couldn't read music. George Harrison of The Beatles played 20+ instruments, wrote & compose music. Wyclef Jean plays like 12 instruments and Flava Flav plays like 15 instruments, each of them with varying levels of proficiency on each instrument. Kurt Cobain was considered an amateur on guitar, and he also played some drums.
