This was meant to be a duet between MJ and Whitney Houston but Whitney’s team thought would be over exposure as she was just starting to break out. What a missed opportunity. King and Queen duet. But SG did a great job.
I believe it’s possible to learn how to sing like Freddy Mercury with lots of work and talent. Michael Jackson however is something unlearnable. He was a legend amongst legends. We can learn from him, but never get to the place he was. I’d really like to hear your opinion on this Chris!
One can almost picture a movie behind the visual of this master piece as we are drawn into the music..timeless dreamy presence absolutely beautiful. Thank you Chris.
OMG Chris, I asked you for that one before... ! 🤧 Thank you very much! For me this song is pure Heaven, the harmony and the perfect connection between Michael and the wonderful Siedah. 😍 I can never get enough of this song... The piano, the strings... The vocals builds up so beautifully, starts so gently and then climbs to the top. It's so passionate, intimate yet somehow mysterious, as someone else wrote. There are parts of it that I never imagined in my dream that it had. The energy and chemistry between them is amazing, and of course the humbleness and playfulness. For me this will always be the most wonderful duet ever. 💯❤
Watched all of your Michael Jackson videos thus far and I love them, it’s really made me appreciate him a lot more as a vocalist. And your enthusiasm is so great to watch as well 😊 Would love to see you react to “This Place Hotel (aka Heartbreak Hotel)” it’s a Jackson’s song, but Michael wrote, composed, and did all the vocals himself (this was one of the songs that he recorded himself doing the guitar solo and baseline and had the producers replicate it). One of his best songs lyrically and vocally imo.
Freaking awesome!!! Thank you so much for sharing your passion when it comes to the art of signing!!! We all are benefiting from being exposed to isolated tracks of MASTER JACKSON!!!
Also fun fact about MJs "OH!!!" adlibs/screams on this song. Those are actually his first and oldest adlibs he ever did. Older than heehee or ow or whatever else. If u go listen to the jackson 5 songs "abc" or "i want you back" (album version) towards the end, he starts getting raspy and does the same "OH!!!" adlibs. Kid MJ was a huge james brown fan so thats where he got his foundation for his rythmic, adliby and raspy singing style.
the recording sessions for the bad album really stand as 1 of the greatest musical moments in modern day music the talents and musicians and writers and studio staff that worked on this album with michael and quincy is truly amazing!
I would love to see the Tabloid Junky multi tracks if possible. That song just slaps! Michael’s ranges from aggressive to as clear and wide as in the Off the wall days. I love that song.
I like the emotion Mike puts in that "This feeling so strong", like the sensation is overpowering him to where he's reduced to a mere whimper like he's lifting a heavy weight lol
Whenever I see you post a Michael Jackson song break down, I immediately have to watch. This is such an amazing duet. On his Dangerous tour they performed this song and it’s really good. As always, I enjoy watching all your MJ song breakdown videos. Looking forward to others to come.
Once again it gave me chills, thanks Chris! I heard that while they were recording, Michael enjoyed throwing popcorn at Siedah, and that they had a hard time not laughing! If this is the result... wow! It was also great to hear all the parts that were faded out in the official version, and I recommend you listen to all the versions you can find on RU-vid taken from the Dangerous tour... Pure magic!!! Thank you again!
Originally Whitney Houston was going to do the song with Michael but her label didn’t want too much exposure. Also, you should listen to the live version of this from Bremen in 1992! Michael hits this crazy falsetto run towards the end that makes your hair stand up!
The second I heard the bass playing, I was like "I bet that's Nathan East." I looked it up, and it was. Something about the tone and groove gave it away. He's an insane player.
Woah thats impressive. Yeah I met Mr East after a concert in London. He is brilliant. Nathan's performance on this song has the distinction of being the only live bass on the album. All the other tracks on Bad, featured synth bass.
This song has the most rich dynamics ever in a pop song. So elegant melodic arrangements and musicians performances. Always loved this one. Michael and Siedah (great songwriter) the golden duo Great deconstruction Chris.
I love Siedah Garret but I stay by it that we got robbed of the greatest duet in pop music history! It was planned as a duet with Withney Houston and Michael Jackson! Imagine how that would’ve sound like two legends in one duet! 🔥
Really cool analysis yet again! I think there are unreleased adlips in this one? I THINK? But anwyas really nice to hear. Do you happen to have michael jackson's Privacy multitracks? Theyre out there somewhere. But i dont think youve done an analysis on his later era songs, and would be pretty cool to see.
Your reaction here 2:58 is EXACTLY what this song does to me! I shut my eyes to absorb those wonderful sounds. It's just showers of bliss 🚿 it gives me goosebumps
So incredible. Thank you for making these videos! Hoping you can do some of the Invincible tracks at some point, especially Unbreakable and Butterflies. Amazing vocals on both. Thanks again!
For moment i thought you've got siedah garret there with you to analyse- wouldn't that be something. I even think she would be into it. Missed opportunity 😅😅
Hey I’m late to the party! But I love this song!! Even tho it would have been amazing to hear Whitney and Michael together ofc. Siedah’s vocal is just so beautiful too! It’s forever a classic
Marvin gaye energy when he cry " owww " like apotheose of mental situation that only this cry and technical self destruction voice can express this feeling..i still wonder why mj never sais how much important was the influence of marvin on himself..mj sampled some part of mg..their story very looks like too..(diana ross, fathership, sexual behaviour on stage, depressive, addiction,ect...)
Can we get a reaction and analysis of Ado’s “Tot musica”? 🙏🏼 One of my favorite reaction videos so far was to “show”, and though it is not quite as crazy as that one it is still a banger😊
18:57 showed me he's human. Even listening to this without the breakdown i heard it and it made me feel better bc he is human. He has cracks. The fact that he left it says a lot bc in the Wimberley 1988 when performing this live this part here he says NOOOOO and its so beautiful and gritty i can't explain it you have to look it up
Please stop imitating him. It's not about MJ but it's enough of an example to hear him. Plus your imitation is really bad. Not even close, or "not even far", if you get what I mean
Hey everyone making requests, Chris can only do songs where the multitracks have leaked publicly. It's not as if he has access to a library of unlimited multitracks.
Today is our 7th anniversary, this was the song we had our first dance to 😍 the irony of bumping into this post today ☺❣ As a lifelong MJ...this has to be on of his top masterpieces. Breathtakingly gorgeous track ❤
Where do you get these studio recordings from and could you do this for another part of me - michael jackson. It's probably his deepest in terms of instruments and acapella.
Never understood why this #1 hit never had a music video for it. Plus this is one of my favorites also the LP had his spoken intro but then it was omitted on cassette and CD formats.
If you found just good friends with Steve Wonder is super Amazing duet considerer the thibgs that Steve can do with the voice please do triste análisis.. greating from chile
Chris!! You should check out Trophy Eyes cover of DMA’s ‘Silver’ for Like a Version!!! beautifully unique voice. Their latest record is also really special.
I don't know if someone already write what I'm about to say, but this song has a Spanish version (Todo mi amor eres tu) and the French one (Je ne veux pas la fin de nous)
