Very nice reaction seph My favourite song in this album Here is some facts about the song 1) it was written by Michael and it's the 1st song he wrote in the album and as u see he put sooo much emotion and love in the lyrics 2) the first release of the song it had a beginning with Michael speaking lovely romantic sentences to his imaginary girl which was deleted in the second release i don't know why . 3 ) the duet was supposed to be with Michael and a famous singer and they thought of Whitney Houston which was Michael friend as well but it doesn't goes well so they thought of a background singer which was Siedah Garrett and at the beginning she thought that they would do rehearsal until she saw her name on the lyrical paper . 4) siedah was a writer of another song in the album which was (man in the mirror) and that was the first thing she did with Michael. 5) however she didn't join in the bad tour because she was busy with her record so she was replaced by another one but she rejoined in dangerous tour. 6) after the song was number 1 on billboard they made it in different languages and MJ found some difficulties but he did it beautifully. Man in the mirror was written so by her(Siedah Garret), that Michael sung it the exact same as she did. Man in the mirror is one of the most powerful culturally relevant songs ever, along with “They don’t care about us” on the history album which he called out the government and was extremely angry at the world destruction and the media that went against him religiously.

So about this song... Not to sound like a broken record but, again, I think it comes back to Diana Ross. It has been rumored that Michael proposed to her several times throughout the 80s, and she continued to say no to him. He was madly in love with her. So the lyrics "you know how I feel, I won't stop until I hear your words saying I do" always stick out to me. It's my favorite part of the song and it always gives me chills because it feels the most specific. Whereas the rest of the song can be passed off as a sort of general love song, those lyrics speak to a very specific personal experience to me. Also, I will add, that the sentiment of not being able to stop loving a person is present in a lot of songs that I think are likely inspired by Diana. The song "I'm So Blue" which was unreleased during MJ's lifetime, but appeared on Bad25, has the adlib "all my life" at the end when he is singing about his heartbreak. I always interpreted that as "all my life" I will love you. I'll never stop. I *can't* stop. This adlib is used in a couple of songs, as well as similar ones. It seems like a consistent sentiment with MJ when it comes to work I perceive as inspired by Diana. In his memoir, MJ said he didn't have anyone in mind when he wrote this song, but he did when he performed it 🤔However, MJ always talked about his music coming to him in a kind of spiritual way. So I'm not sure he was consciously thinking about specific topics/people when he wrote, but it was still the truth from his soul pouring out.

The lady in this song is Siedah Garrett, she would also later join his Dangerous tour in 1992 where they would perform this together again (he also did so in 1987/88 but it was with another woman for the Bad tour)

Siedah Garrett is Michael's duet partner and background singer during the Dangerous Tour. I recommend the performance of "I just can't stop loving you" from Argentina. Siedah played a prank on Michael during their performance by wearing a blonde wig. It's a lot of fun - at least for me - to see a Michael who has trouble finishing the song because he had to laugh so much. Because in contrast to the Bad Tour, in which a good-humored Michael could be seen, during the Dangerous Tour - for well-known reasons - he lost his laughter.

This amazing song was the first song i have ever listened to Michael.. and since then i became obsessed with him ..
