I’m pretty sure lesser vocalists than MJ had to grind through much more comprehensive comping than this. He was a perfectionist for sure, but he was also a great singer to boot, meaning he didn’t have to do thousands of takes like some actually did back in the day. I think the fact that Michael was drinking such simple tea with a tea bag in his cup shows that in real life he was a very humble down- to- earth man, so much immersed in creating his music... i mean, he could have a chef in the studio to make him the best and the most delicious tea possible, and he was sipping very simple tea brewed with a tea bag....

@@rubbersoul420 it didn’t outsell dangerous, it just knocked it out of the #1 spot on January 11th 1992. Dangerous then took the #5 spot. By next week Nevermind was #4 and Dangerous was #2 right behind Garth Brooks Ropin the wind. Nevermind is good with over 30 million copies sold, but worldwide Dangerous beats it by a bit.

I feel like Bruce Swedien was a godfather for Michael in the studio. Michael loved Bruce's talent so much and it showed. I read Bruce's interview the other day and he said Michael never used autotune/pitch correction. Other engineer/mixer, Dave Way said Michael didn't allow anyone to remove his clapping hands sound, his breath, every shit you hear through his mouth. He knew what he's doing 😂

Omg coming across videos like this makes me feel 11 years old again 😅 I was so in love with Michael in middle school and wanted to be a singer. All I did was try to find rare videos like this and just study him lol you learn so much watching the greats.

Knew that he recorded Jam in the summer of 1991. Not 1990 like some clowns claim. TR didn't work with him during 1990, as he was on the East Coast working on other 1990 and 1991 records (ie Heavy D) He left for LA in January/Feb 1991 to get started on Dangerous and left the project in the fall. I think he went back to Virginia Beach, then got to working Bobby and Whitney next (finished March 1992)

Imagine being in that studio next to MJ? Michael was definitely the biggest name in music, maybe the most famous person in the world. He was on top of the world and being able to work with 1 on 1 is crazy.

Thats in studio One at Larrabee North in Studio City, CA. That place was my home first when Giorgio Moroder owned it in 1987. Then years later when I worked at Larrabee studios. I knew Bruce Swedien very well. Was once at his home on his ranch miles north on the 101 freeway. My sense of humor was a little too much for old Bruce,...LOL.
