To bad so few people know what a great martial artist he really is, having 8 black belts in 8 different styles, how many can say they do, so underrated.
Do you know what stance is used at the beginning of the fight? I used Google translator for this, I don't know if "stance" is the best, here it is also called guard or base.
Impeccable timing and choreography makes this one of the best fight scenes in action movies. Both of these guys are very talented martial artists which lends so much authenticity to this scene.
*This is undoubtedly one of the most impressive fight scenes in cinema. Both fighters possess exceptional skill, but Matt's overconfidence and arrogance proved to be his downfall. While he initially demonstrated an equal level of proficiency to MJW, his belief that he could easily defeat his opponent ultimately led to his defeat.*
I agree with some of what you wrote. But mjw played with him to feel him out a bit more from the film at scumbags mini mansion, and then he showed how far superior he is by 1st dropping him with a simple standing sweep that made his head & upper back hit the ground, then mjw proceeded to dismantle his opponents attacking ability, put his opponent in a submission hold, & then tapped out himself to make sure the scumbag lost the 1 million on the flight
You mean Matt is the only fighter out of both of them 😂😂😂😂 MJW ain’t never been a pro fighter he’s Johnny Cage it looks good in the movies but that’s it
First kick:canceled the opponents kick Second kick: faked to the head Third kick: hit ribs Fourth kick: hit face Impressive how it all happened in 2 seconds
I'm not familiar with Matt Mullins other than this movie but I'm seriously astonished by the fact that this guy hasn't been casted as a live-action Johnny Cage. The style he fights , the cockiness and that shit-eating smirk on his face...hes the perfect Johnny.
I've just gotta say, out of all the acting and martial arts athleticism on display here, the single shot that sold this fight scene to me the hardest was that fall after the sweep. Landing on the shoulders like that and just folding up. Like goddamn that looks like it hurt. Even in high octane movie fights you totally need moments like that to ground the fight scene. Superb fight scene and one of my all time favorites. Also all the credit to infusing a character with brief screen time with all kinds of charisma and personality. The little smirks and body language were perfect. And the way the camera isn't afraid to hold and actually show what's going on. Dang this scene is gold.
Yeah. That jack knife by Mullins is excellent. One of the issues I have with White's fight scenes is that they usually don't look real even though White and his opponents are capable fighters. Mullins really sold this scene for me.
This was such an underated action film. The fights were well choreographed and still manages to entertain me. Matt and Micheal did a great job in this scene.
Unfortunately, if you have any experience in martial arts, it is clear that they either didn't care or knew almost nothing about realistic fighting. To be blunt, they look like olympic taekwondo practitioners trying to score points rather two brutal dudes which try to hurt each other.
@@alexmash1353 true, but still entertaining to watch. I've seen allot of fight scenes that were absolutely terrible. They both know how to make it look good if not realistic.
He’s been in a bunch of movies, they’re just not very popular. There’s a lot of stuff on Tubi. Hollywood doesn’t want to see a strong black man with a black belt in nine different forms of martial arts, they would rather see a black man in a dress Michael Jai White is a great actor but he’s not that popular and Tyler perry is
The logic of this film I see is that Bones always studies his opponents first for weakness and patterns before deciding the best way to attack. This fight is no different … he learns his opponent and then unleashes a terrific all out assault. So good!!!
@@jefffinchum4103 here you go since you're too stupid to do your own research and read blackbeltmag.com/the-kyokushin-karate-roots-of-michael-jai-white
This is one of the best choreographed and executed fight scenes, looked natural, excellent acting while taking the hits and superb work whoever did the sound design. I'll actually look into that too.
@@AaBb-fb8yz yeah, no you are right %100 , I slow it down to 0.25 and you can tell. thanks for pointing that out. now i know for future videos. cheers.
Yes these were choreographed stunts, not an actual fight. But can we just admire for a moment, the supreme balance, precision & hard work required to make a scene like this as a polished martial artist, yet not actually kick the other guy's head over the treeline...accidently? The amount of physical control these stunts required is nothing short of ominous!
@Luke av how the fvck did you manage to take a conversation about supreme choreographed martial arts stunts, & make it about race?? Low IQ people are so...simple
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ppl give this movie a watch...I mean if you want to see some FABULOUS fighting scenes Blood and Bone is the film to watch. Michael Jai White is Da MAN and is BADASS 100%. This is a MUST SEE. Michael Jai White needs to be in a lot more films where hands down. Cause in My opinion his action flicks are underrated but they are worth the watch.
i love this scene because the camera hangs. it lets you see all the impact moments and i makes the fight that much more believable. it helps a lot that theyre both so talented and know exactly how to move, and that the choreography is really fun but the camera just letting every exchange marinate in your mind is what makes it feel so exhilarating.
When I watch this classic fight scene, I always mute the T.V. & put "The Hop" by a Tribe Called Quest on in the background while I'm watching the fight. It puts a real chill vibe to one of the most epic fight scenes ever choreographed.
A good fight scene is made when the two performers actually know how to fight. No need for sophisticated editing or constant shakiness to cover up poor choreography. They both know how to actually fight. Watch some interviews with Jackie Chan on directing fight choreography
2:18 The missed spinning heel kick into fake spinning heel kick into landed spinning heel kick is just so filthy lol. I remember the first time I saw it & literally jumped outta my chair like if I was watching a legit irl MMA fight lol. Big props to everyone involved from choreography to Matt & MJW. Such an underrated fight movie. The 4 kick combo @ 2:04 is super crisp too.
@@kynriv101 No doubt. In fighting we call that "conditioning" your opponent. Like going to the body a lot to try & lower their guard and when they think ur going low again, you go up top with power.
This whole fight scene is a great representation of what happened earlier in the movie. There is always an emphasis on Bone reading his opponents and adapting instantly.
@@johannsebastianalambara2342 they slowed it on purpose so u can see it clearly. And even if it's slow, can u react to that shit? Looks easy since you're watching, what about do IRL? those slow moves alone can handle you, doubt you can react to it.
Haven’t seen any comment take note of it, but the part where Franklin yells “O’Hara!” was inspired by Enter The Dragon when O’Hara broke the glass bottles to combat Bruce Lee and the Master yells his name. Same actor too. Very cool touch!
Somente em Deus espera silenciosa a minha alma; dele vem a minha salvação. Só ele é a minha rocha e a minha salvação; é ele a minha fortaleza; não serei grandemente abalado. Salmos 62:1-2 💛✨
This is one of the best fight scenes ever created. I loved the character of the suited man, he was charismatic, debonair, funny in addition to being a phenomenally skilled martial artist! His character remains my favorite screen martial artist! Understandably, I was delighted to find that he has this channel.
I like to think these two sparred irl to determine who would win in this fight scene, and then, determine how the film would progress depending on who won
Truth is Mullins would most likely mop the floor with most people dude is a legit bad ass 4th degree black belt! Yes this is a fake fight scene for a movie but the 5 championships he won first one at 15 wasn’t! He is what we call a tooth chipper!
Matt and Michael are pro martial artists. This scene was my favorite. Matt was an awesome Kamen Rider and Johnny Cage in MK Legacy same with Michael when act as Jax Briggs. They're great actors and masters of martial arts
Incredible and beautiful fight scene to watch. It's next to real and authentic. Most Hollywood movies use computers to make the fight scenes to be super speed that as the word suggests, they're superficial. There's got to be an element of authenticity and this scene delivers that...
1:33 Bone tries to finish the combination with a jumping kick that KO'd at least two other opponents earlier in the movie. But Price, being a more skilled opponent, anticipated it, blocked, and countered with his own combination. I don't know if we're meant to make that connection but I thought it was neat.
2:05 that combo kick, the second kick was faked to the head, which drew the guard, and boom, gut, head, such a sweet move that totally went unnoticed until slowed down, so much technical skill going on here, But Itachi vs Sasuke still my favorite fight scene
I love the moment at 2:04 where Price is still trying to be cocky and is about to show off some shit. Gets beat out of him REAL quick, lol. After that roundhouse fake-out it's all over, Bone is just hitting him at will. Amazing fight choreography, storytelling and character set-up. The best action scenes are also stories in miniature, and this is one of the best. (Also... love the taking-off-the-jacket moment, when Price thinks he has successfully taken Bone's measure, and hasn't realized that it's actually exactly the reverse. Bone just flat-out gets in his head and out-thinks him. Another great piece of fight scene storytelling.)
did anyone catch this ? in the beginning of the fight: Michael Jai White and Matt Mullins fought randomly that's until Matt Mullins caught Michael with a spinning air kick. and at that moment Michael figured out Matts weakness MATT WAS ONLY DEFENDING HIS LEFT SIDE, AND KEPT HIS RIGHT SIDE WIDE OPEN FOR AN ATTACK !!! The only question that is left: how come Michael was able to read this ? was Matt injured ? was he physically weak on the right side ? Note: Keep in mind, I'm asking these questions within the context of the film. I'm asking about the nature of the characters within the film. whats so fascinating about this film, is that this is the only Martial Arts film where you see tactics, game-plan, strategy every little detail within the realm of martial arts was played out in this film as if it were a chess game.
Mayssan Haddad They made the movie specifically with that in mind. One reason why its a personal favorite martial arts movie of mine. Remember that he plays chess with the old man.. it's to later highlight how all of his thought process play out like chess all the way to his ultimate goal of getting revenge and helping the surviving members of his friends family.
