There will never be a more smooth and graceful player. Yes, there were greats before and after him but, he brought a flare to the game that will never be matched. I feel fortunate that I grew up during his time. 80's/90's NBA....the greatest eras.

@Cadillac Kadafi agreed. It's not a secret that Kobe patterned his game after MJ's, which Kobe said himself. There is a video on YT showing the same moves from both. It shows MJ then Kobe. It's amazing how damn near identical they are. Kobe was basically the second coming of Jordan. But yeah, I think MJ has a slight edge.

MJ had great balance. In this video, he never falls, stumbles, hands the floor, trips, splashes into the crowd, or slips. Just a stand-up guy playing stand-up basketball.

⛹🏾‍♂It may seem petty and more of an esthetic consideration than a skilled one ...and it's not, but it's just one more weight on the scale as to why LeBron doesn't hold a candle to this guy. For everything you just described that wasn't a part of MJ's game, is exactly what I found wrong with LeBron's. ⛹🏾‍♂His game, while impressive, is essentially him being an overrated, oversized, unregulated, uncoordinated tank. And he leans on this, much like Shaq did, instead of improving on creating a better arsenal of skills, focusing on better fundamentals and a psychological atmosphere that supports and encourages team cohesion... ...on all levels. 👅+🏀=🐐

1:48 - One of my favorite dunks from that year. That was when I knew he was basically back. He wasn't quite as explosive from before he retired, but he was officially 'back'. This was a classic Jordan dunk.
@Leo-gh7nz
@Leo-gh7nz Год назад
Definitely one of my favorites. But I knew he was back after the very first dunk of the season. He started kinda slow that game so you could almost sense even the crowd getting nervous whether he was truly back, then he broke out and and made some vintage Jordan baskets. The dunk doesn't look that impressive live, but the replay was awesome, it was like he was walking on air like the old MJ.

My dad mounted an 8 foot hoop in our garage for me, so my buddy and I spent hours and hours dunking, trying to coppy MJ and Dominic Wilkins dunks. We kept on accidently breaking the rim off from hanging every few months. Finally my dad finally took the rim to a welder and told him to beef it up. The welder put a ton of reinforcement on it. Mounted it to an steel backboard that someone left out by the road,,,had a carpenter beef up a structure in our garage to mount it to. It worked great. Cuz we wanted to be like Mike 👍

As great as Lebron is in today's game he's still not as great as MJ. LBJ has the ability to destroy teams but you hardly get to see that from him. The last time I "witnessed" him kill was back in 2007, in the ECF G5 against Detroit, dude had 48pts. It was awesome to watch but I think he had more to prove back then. Since then I haven't seen him play in a GM that meant something and preform like that. SHM. he's not a killer like MJ or KOBE. I believe he has the ability but spends more time complaining and trying to sell the fact that he gets fouled. I've seen LeBron get fouled roll around on the ground like somebody broke his arm then 5 minutes later he's dunking the ball. You don't know what you're going to get with LeBron when the game is on the line. With MJ you do. You knew exactly what you were going to get and see. MJ was a killer and I don't believe he had a problem putting his foot on a team's neck when they were down. Players and coaches feared MJ's ability to take over games. Especially in the clutch. Teams new to be on their A-game when the Bulls were coming to town back then. I don't believe teams in this era of basketball are afraid of LeBron or the teams he has played on like they were with the Bulls in the 90s. I'm glad I grew up in the era that I grew up in.

That could have been because of more experience and maturity ...and therefore creating for him a game that is less likely to give him injuries, because at point of his career he definitely doesn't need injuries. Awesome video. And great analysis of the dunks at the end. And I agree, his best dunk was the reverse, double-pump against Miami in the regular season. But, *my favorite* dunk? He was more bulky the last 3 seasons. It kept him strong, sturdy and relatively injury-free. I think it effected his explosiveness and lift somewhat. I thought he was actually a little more explosively when he came back in 94'. His legs weren't yet under him, but he had some serious explosive dunks when he first came back. At the time he wasn't carry as much muscle. 96-98' he re-invented himself more into a low-post, turn around shooter-type player. It worked, because he had 3 championship. He was obviously still great. He just wasn't as an explosive leaper and dunker.
@Leo-gh7nz
@Leo-gh7nz Год назад
He came back in 95. And he was definitely not as explosive in those games he played as he was this 96 season. He even admitted as much, because his body was built for baseball. So you kinda have it backwards, he actually was carrying more muscle as a baseball player and had to slim down a bit.

One more observation as to why Jordan's dunks always look so good, is he almost never hung on the rim, never dangled on it like a chin up bar kicking & screaming and kicking like so many young bucks do these days. Only when absolutely necessary to avoid injury or landing on someone, like Barkley's head lol, did he hang on the basket. . Otherwise he slams it and keeps on going like he's done it befour, businesses as usual. Pure beauty and class.

Awesome video, crazy how much your thoughts mirror mine. My favorites are that first dunk against Hornets, the double pump against the Jazz (vintage air time), the double pump reverse against the Heat (didn't think he could still do that), and then he had 2 vintage 1-hand leaners in the playoffs. The one you showed, but also one against the Magic where Pip was grabbing the defender to prevent him from jumping. And finally, I also like the dunk against the Heat in the first round. For the most part, Jordan didn’t showcase the same ups as when he was in his true athletic prime. But make no mistake, that didn’t mean they weren’t still there. Whenever one of his teammates threw a lob that was too high or whenever the situation called for it, he’d pull the trampoline out and finish in the sky just like the old days. Guys at my school thought I was spoiled, thought my mom was buying me these shoes every few months nope, my grandpa did buy me my first pair, 1989 I think AJ4? White/N Carolina Blue colorway. $110.00 😆. After that it was all me. Had to look close during the All🌟Games record, VHS, play, rewind>play>pause, trying to see them shoes lol,,,to get a glimpse of the new ones right? as well as the dunks!! It's Gotta Be The Shoes, the shoes, the shoes!!! Man it's Gotta be the shoes!! (black shoes)?? Maby a week before all🌟game get a tease of the white version. God Bless Essential Jordan!! I'm 6'0" & I use to be able to dunk two hands off a good bounce, but never during a game or straight up with the ball in my hand,,because my hands are too damn small to palm the ball. But those mini balls or a volleyball I could do it. Now I'm 43 and can't jump 2 inches.🤣 I drive a semi truck now lol. But these videos make me feel like a kid again. I hope we can meet and be friends someday. Thanks again and God bless you!! (the concords look really cool, but the most uncomfortable pair of Js I owned just really stiff without much cussioning.) Fav pair of AJs, probably 92 Bordeaux/black/charcole grey. Most comfortable for me 93 AJ playoff black with white & red trim. Also Air Maxx 91 Bo Jackson, black/white crosstrainer, was mabey my all time favorite shoe. Wish the heck they would come out with those again. Cheers 🍻

Remember there were those Individuals who said HE could NO longer FLY ... (9:43) It's as if AIR Jordan turned into THUMP-ING POWER DUNK AIR Jordan! There will NEVER BE ANOTHER Player like MICHAEL JORDAN. MJ SOLD OUT Stadiums throughout his Career and when EVERY TEAM'S OWN HOME CROWD CHEERING FOR MICHAEL JORDAN; which that ALONE DEFINED MJ AS THE ONE & ONLY GOAT! Personally speaking, the NERF NBA can try to shovel the BS declaring the Game is better now than ever, and YES, and THEIR PATHETIC ATTEMPT TO OFFER PROOF by USING FALSIFIED DATA & STATS ... when ALL has to do is look at the Ratings; which are the WORST THEY HAVE BEEN since BEFORE THE TIME of LARRY BIRD & the GREAT BOSTON CELTICS and MAGIC JOHNSON & THE SHOWTIME LAKERS. Even during a pandemic where people HAD TO STAY AT HOME with NOTHING TO DO .... NERF NBA Ratings dropped, I believe 20% from the year before; which I think SAYS IT ALL. DO AWAY WITH NERF NBA!

People underestimate the advantage Jordan’s large hands gave him when dunking. Having those gigantic claws allowed Jordan to get to the rim more effectively when dunking. It allowed him to do tricks that others could not. Jordan’s vertical is also still the highest ever recorded. He is the undisputed GOAT

MJ is fluid and forceful at the same time. Kobe is fluid and slippery.

that and-one put-back jam over Hakeem is pretty sick. but the double pump reverse is easily the best.

Beside the vertical, the big hands is a big advantage to dunk on anybody...MJ Kawhi etc

For real! Their wing defense was brutal. And on top of that Harper and Rodman were tough defensively also.
