Cleveland had no size at guard that year. Kerr and Price trying to guard MJ? He has open looks on size advantage alone, could shoot free throws over Price's outstretched arms. Man what a mismatch. I feel sorry for Cleveland. Also, Horace Grant quietly had 18/18/4 and 3 steals and zero turnovers this game. He was such a reliable PF-role for that 91-93 bulls dynasty. Rarely gets enough mention.
@caph2o22

If they were going by today's rules Jordan would have gone to the free throw line so many more times, looking at how the Cavs play him defensively. It wouldn't be just 44 pts... perhaps will be at least around 50 to 55.

@SchulzEricT
@SchulzEricT 6 лет назад
I mean, as a prospect Wiggins was better than Pippen; the difference is that MJ mentored Scottie and Scottie became one of the top-10 NBA players of all-time. LeBron didn't have patience for that; he chose to trade Wiggins (and the flexibility that a player like him on a rookie contract provided) for Kevin Love... and then he decided that Love was a spot-up shooter, thus largely neutralizing one of the NBA's top-5 offensively gifted superstars. If LBJ had MJ's competitiveness, he'd've devoted himself to being the team's #1 defensive stopper and allowed Love to be the #1 guy on offense, because Love can carry the offensive load but only LBJ can carry the defensive load... yet he chose not to for some reason. He wanted to rest about 50% of the game, so he chose to rest on defense most of the time. The needs of the team dictated that they'd be better off with LBJ devoting more effort to defense. And he was the one who chose to trade a possible defensive stopper in Wiggins for a defensive non-factor in Love. (Which... I mean, sure, MJ's a horrible GM too. But if you're going to credit LBJ for era-impacted advantages like having a longer career, then you have to factor in disadvantages too, like being a horrible GM.) (And of course, I know Wiggins has ended up being a fairly underwhelming player, but I think that if LBJ had wanted to mold him into a superstar... I don't know, we can't do anything but guess at it, but surely he would've at least had a *better* *chance* of being a star, right? Worst case, the Cavs would've had more cap room.)

Of course not. Teams used to throw all kinds of match ups at Jordan to try to wear him down. What people choose to see (Normally millennial NBA 'fans') is Just Michael getting past smaller guards, yet they always fail to comprehend the absolute TREES he used to have to go through at the rim! Look at the size of the front line players for the Cavs - guys were huge, yet Jordan rolled through them, as he always did with anyone in his path. GOAT.

Steve Nash - He is white and he is not athletic. And in general he looks like a girl. Ignorant fans will talk in the future, because they didn"t see how he played and how magnificent he was.

He didn't exactly light up great defenders in this game. One thing fans today don't get though is how he scored. If you watch, he don't dribble dribble dribble dribble and then take a tough fade away. He gets to his spot, THAN he gets the ball, and makes a quick move to get a high percentage shot. This isn't exactly a video of how great of a player he was, but more of how smart he was on getting his own shot. He doesnt use a ton of energy to do it.

LOL, remind me again about the great defense of Jordan's era. That's just embarrassing. And it's not just because of Kerr being overmatched, the truth is that defense in the 80s and early-90s wasn't all that good. Sure they had hand checking and some guys would just mug you, but in total, the defense of those days was pretty lax. Watch a game sometime and see how much deeper they let players get with little or no contention. Watch how unprotected the 3-point line was. You put a modern team out against an 80s team, and they'd run them off the court on both offense and defense.

@@stevegriffey8255 Let's ignore the bias in those statements. For example what sounds better Charles Barkley got beat by a great player or beat by the GOAT? Second, This has nothing to do with Defense. Jordan was great for a wealth of reasons but you can't tell me with a straight face that he didn't model his game for an era were effective team defense was incredibly difficult to play. Just look at the poor Cavs team. Then look at what the Raptors did to Giannis this year or how the raptors made Ben Simmons ineffective in a half court offense. All those acts would be illegal defense in this NBA. Michael Jordan can be the GOAT but that doesn't make him above question.
