MJ's moves were just so sharp and so crisp. Even the sound of the ball going through the net sounds better when MJ does it. I can never get tired of watching his turnaround fade-aways. Kids today have no idea what they are missing.
IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS TOO. Look at that slight body check bump that Jordan does at around 25 seconds to feel for the defender on his back and to get a little distance off of Avery Johnson for the unimpeded fade away maneuver. A 40 yr old MJ was able to pull off the same shot against taller, younger elite defenders because of the setup and body control (and he was still a highly athletic veteran). Crafty. So esthetic. So effective. You could practice that fade away until you're blue in the face and copy that motion down pretty well (not even Kobe could match the poetry of MJ's form) , but it's another thing to integrate it into a real game with a real defender. Especially at any competitive level. GOAT
One day the game of basketball decided to take on human form and walk amongst men to show them how the game should be played in its most beautiful form. He was born to the Jordan family in Charlotte and his parents gave him the name Michael.
Most right handed players when they shoot the fadeaway they turn to the right shoulder so they don't need to square up but usually when they turn to the left shoulder they shoot a hook shot. MJ liked turning to his left shoulder and he rarely threw a hook shot, instead he squared up in mid air, hang and fade. No one can do the move in 2:05 better than MJ.
bballmemories - ur right. One of the many things that separated him was his ability to square his shoulders turning in midair - accurately. At times, he used to be facing the opposite direction and turnaround in midair and still got the shot off accurately. This is elite athleticism and coordination and ability.
GOAT GODDAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he's just soooooooooooooo great at basketball it's impossible to even describe it in words you just gotta watch him... midrange etc....... GOAT
Interesting to see MJ wearing a red forearm band, like he did until the beginning of the 1991 playoffs and all the way back to the 1986-87 season. Must have wanted to feel like his young self.
You could watch ONE highlight reel of this man, and you would instantly realize why *Michael Jordan* is the GOAT. Kids today swear their life by lebronjames all because they've never seen *Michael* play.
Peak Jordan would struggle to guard Lebron 08-11. After 2012 a one on one game between their best selves wouldn't even be close. Jordan got the fluid motion but Lebron's skillset, IQ and total command of every part of the game is second to none.
MJ is the GOAT, but you can't watch one highlight reel and instantly realize someone is the GOAT. A persons moves are only a very very small part of how good they are. That's nothing, especially if they don't have any information about MJ. We would need much much more information to even try to accurately guess who's greater. That said, I love MJ, but I also love Lebron and respect him. I believe Lebron is the 2nd greatest player of all time, and the fact that he's as good as he is in the generation after MJ is absolutely unbelievable and incredibly rare. Lebron is number 2 to Jordan, but he's also still playing and a big threat, and if he did a few amazing things at an older age in his career some people would put him over MJ just for that. A lot say he can't get over though regardless of what he does, but I disagree. I just think he's older and has been playing for over 20 years, so doing things like that are incredibly unlikely. That said MJ and Lebron are my favorite players ever. Absolutely freaks of nature.
@4:35 Wilkins on the sideline just in awe at Michael lol don’t get me wrong Wilkins was a baaaad man but Jordan is Jesus in Basketball shorts...the end. Quote L.Bird
ah all the old friends are recently back to the jordan community :) and for your question i never understood the logic behind that either. but just like the jazz they really didnt have any option that can guard jordan efficiently.
I watched countless games where the biggest players were slow to MJ, so it puts lower and fast defenders to keep him, but Michael always cleverly played at the post. Nowadays we do not see this in the game. We watched Lebron shoting from 3pts over I. Thomas😂
Exactly. People always say that LeBron is a better shooter than MJ cause he had higher FG% but they don't give the context. Like you said 90% of MJ's shot are in midrange, while LeBron is always attacking the rim that's why he got easier basketball most of the time considering that the defense nowadays is very weak.
Giannis feels like he'll finish his career up there with those 3. He's so good and people are already acting like he's not one of the most unique players ever.
