Michael Jordan pays tribute to Kobe Bryant and gives us an intimate look at their relationship at his memorial with a touching, heartbreaking, and beautiful speech.
MJ was not KB's teacher. KB was a self-motivator. He may have found inspiration from MJ and maybe even sought his advice. But it was never a teacher-student relationship.
It's hot appropriate to make such an annoying argument with no sense...MJ was a guide to Kobe when he was young he found the right motivation on MJ...two incredible legends
Yeah, but I don't think it was just what the NBA world needed, that was like for the world (during this critical time in history with virus politics etc). It was deep, eloquent, clever, and inspiring all in one.
The fact he didn’t even try to wipe his tears away cause he knew there would just be more . Respect to any man being able to talk through this type of pain
Hallo!!!! Mother Father of all creation are here in physical flesh!!!!! Our creators are showing the way!!! This is a SOS call to wake up and phone home today!!!!
The crying meme reference lightened the mood and allowed people to smile in the midst of their pain. Even Vanessa laughed. Nicely done Michael, class act.
It's because u realize the GOAT is still alive talking about the legacy left behind the player right behind him. Plus the fact that he was actually a close friend and was handling it well. None of us actually knew him personally.
Man his speech had me in tears, no disrespect to Vanessa Bryant but as much as she did a grand job of speaking out there, to hear that line from him and me having a younger brother, ill admit i had tears flowing down my cheeks because of that connection. Him and Shaq brought the house down to me and ik its not meant to be a competition but still, that was just wow

@@UnknownZynx Thank you sorry if I sounded a little rude in my comment i was mad that people are like talking about FiRsT all the time and even in this video.
MJ doesn’t appear in public easily, any interview of his are rare let alone a speech and the only time he would let public cry after his retirement is the his hall of fame speech. So to give a speech and cry while all the camera on him, that tell you how much kobe means to MJ.
This made me tear up 3 plus years later .. This tragedy was the topic of the last conversation I had with my dad... he passed a few days after Kobe on February 1st 2020. Wasn't even expecting it..I was the one in the Hospital.. He was a big basketball fan of Lakers and Chicago Bulls & Seattle Supersonics when we had a team in Washington.. Rip to Kobe and Gigi and Rip ro my dad ..
Facts man. Kobe’s death hit like a family members - crazy i think of him almost every week now - 4 years after his death. His death also was the precursor to such a time of tumult and chaos back in 2020.
@@darthbobo9445 -I'm a Laker fanatic and during the Showtime Lakers hated Jordan and Bird. What the hell was this smoking Cigar's and Gambling Crap! Terrible role model for kids. Anyway, you can see how gut level honest he is on The last dance and how here, it Rips his guts out when Kobe died like it did all Laker diehards.
Whole new respect for MJ- Never saw him open up before & love the share of his perspective on Kobe & how he influenced him to be a better parent & human. I cried with him 😢😭
Also just the pure emotion for someone. MJ was thought to be a sociopath by a lot of people but he was draining out of his eyes and nose talking about Kobe
It's Amazing how regular everyday humans will like or dislike celebrities as if they really know who or what they are really like. How would you really expect M.J. to react to a close friends death ?
If you don't know about it, go look up how he reacted when his father died. it's just so raw. Jordan may be flawed as a person, but he was a caring and loving person under it all
@Patricia MJ has mellowed down a lot now. Oh boy if you'd only worked with him up close during his peak, you wouldn't be saying nice things about MJ if you left aside for a moment his basketball achievements.
Dude straight facts! MJ speaking from The heart ❤️ and you could tell that Kobe kept Jordan legacy alive with the way Kobe played the game! He’s the best player/shooting guard since MJ retired
We all miss Kobe. He was the GOAT. Nobody could stop him. He wasn’t just a great player, he was a great person. He was golden. In the words of mine, I’m alive and Kobe’s dead. He did nothing to deserve this. You may think I shouldn’t be watching this video because I’m 9, but Kobe’s just so great that I couldn’t stop watching this. I have cried every time I watch a video related to Kobes death.
That is what humor is truly, people make it seem like humor is dark if dives into tragedy but that is the true meaning of it. I just came back here to watch this heartbreaking moment again
My god, this will forever go down in history as one of the world’s worst tragedies. 4 years have passed and it’s still hard to fathom what happened and of all people, who it happened to. So difficult to watch this. My how this man was taken from us so much too soon. There was still 50 years of wisdom he had to give us. Unbelievable. Just unbelievable.
This the most respectful and kindness thing ever to see a legend talk about another legend like that is amazing wish the best but Kobe’s in a much better place
This is the most clutch thing Michael Jordan has ever done. Came through when the world needed him most. Still can't believe we lost such a talented soul so early.
@@achabibian5492 I'm a kobe fan but I havent cried, is that not normal? Or maybe its because hes a stranger to me just like millions of people who died from wars, accidents, starvation???
@@achabibian5492 I feel bad for him, his daughters and people affected but I cant cry for someone I havent met or even know my existence. Hopefully I'm a real human, lol.
kobe learned from mj all his life and then in the end it ended up being mj learning from kobe. how to be a better dad and to be in the moment and appreciate being alive.
Thank you for this most beautiful tribute Michael Jordan, to your friend/little brother Kobe Bryant. Nothing is more powerful than love, and this love in friendship is so beautiful to hear and see. Thank you for your heartfelt and uplifting words Michael, reminding us to live in the moment and love one another.
Shaq looks broken. Months later in the midst of corona, this still hits me hard. If it hits ME this hard, I can’t imagine what his family and teammates are still feeling. Sending love to everyone.
After Kobe passed, Shaq likened their relationship to brothers. Brothers fight. They go their separate ways. They know how to get under each other's skin like no one else. But when they are gone, all that's left is the bond you shared, the memories you made, and the void they left behind. You miss them, and you'd do anything to bring them back.
MJ everyone is a meme now because you had the world in tears with that speech. This memorial was one of those days the earth stood still. Incredible display of real emotion and an incredible tribute to a legend.
For being the greatest ever, Jordan is extremely self-aware. His confidence doesn’t come across as cocky. Humble in his own way. That’s why he’ll always be the greatest. “When you’re good at something, you’ll tell everyone. When you’re great at something, everyone will tell you.” -Walter Payton
Of today. Back then the kept street language or court language to the court and put on the regular language to press conferences and public appearances.
He"s articulate and expresses himself well, his intelligence is one of his great attributes, it's not that amazing to me because basketball has many intelligent people compared with some other sports, Kobe was smart too, spoke another language etc.
What a moving speech from the best that ever done it. Kobe brought these legends together was a testament to the star that he was , and forever will be.
Don't take it for granted. In life, Kobe never did. It's that unfairness that gives men like him the opportunity to be great. We should seek the same in our own lives. It would be a disservice to his legacy, otherwise. Everything is relative. It just is, and we're in this life lucky enough to experience it. Good luck, homie.
“When Kobe died, a piece of me died...and as I look in this arena and across the globe, a piece of you died...or else you wouldn’t be here.” And that’s why I was out hooping this morning before my exam
Michael, there are not enough words to describe the man that you are. All I can say is thanks, for sharing part of your life with us and giving all you give, even today. You’re an icon, a mentor, a man that millions of us lookup to and will always look up to. You are so special, I’m just glad God let me be here on earth at the same time you’re here, you’re amazing man, and Kobe could not have had a better big brother than you. You’re awesome, and I’m going because I feel the lump in my throat starting to come up and my eyes are tearing up. I skipped you video about half a dozen times because I didn’t want to cry, but, as usual, you win. I couldn’t not listen to you especially talking about Kobe. You’re in league of your own, sir, a force not to be taken lightly and I’m glad that God made you and I got to see and hear you, thanks, Michael Jordan, I love you, thanks for everything. 🎁😮🤹🏼⛹🏽♂️🏀
I just watched a clip of Kobe, giving an interview today, TODAY. And, then this popped up. I’ve never seen this. What a share. I’ve been thinking about MJ a lot lately too. Coincidence?? Nah. I needed to see & hear this exact moment in time. My heart thanks you, my soul will always love you. All the Blessings to you and your family.✌🏽crazy cat from Chicago😉
I would call my trainer and coaches at 3am in the morning to talk to them about footwork in baseball, but i guarantee i would get kicked off the team ;)
It's really something else to hear MJ talk about passion, cause when he played, no one played harder. You can tell he is really talking from the heart, 100%.
@@CustomizedUsername Fr he was the second youngest and your little siblings mean the world to you even if they get on your nerves blood or not Kobe was his brother
@@comment2535 yeah I think he has a younger sister. But his brothers are both older. I’ve never seen Mike like this. Glad he let us Angelenos know. It was comforting to know Kobe had the goats respect
MJ's speech was remarkable. It was truly moving. I love this version of him and I loved seeing how much respect, love and admiration he had for someone who most of us would say wanted to be just like him--and was the one who came the closest. He really did lose a part of himself when Kobe died. They had such a beautiful connection.
To this DAY… Kobe‘s loss still hurts. Thank you Vanessa for sharing Kobe Bryant. You had every right to be closed off and private at this time but you shared him with the WORLD because you know how much he meant to that world. Thank you RIP Kobe and GiGi. ❤
could you imagine filling the shoes of your idol. then your idol sharing his innermost feelings at your memorial. FATHERS ALWAYS MATTER JUST LIKE MOTHERS
Aubrey, I'm wondering why'd you say the last part "fathers always matter just like mothers"?. I don't intend to say the opposite because I do agree with you in that part. But MJ said Kobe was like a little brother to him. Kobe, said in a talk show that MJ was like a big brother to him. With that being said, again, why'd you say the last part "fathers always matter just like mothers"?. Thank you.
