One of my most popular videos is the Jordan v Bird duel from 1988 so I decided to upload their last game against each other in the NBA.
In this game, Jordan and the Bulls dominated the Celtics to win by 34 points. Jordan scored 32 points on 14-23 FG, with 13 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks.
Slowed by injury, 35 year old Bird was still able to score 10 points (4-15 FG), 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals.
Enjoy the last time that Jordan and Bird were on the same NBA Court.

I don't think Bird ever dominated Jordan individually. They had some great battles though. Bird's Celtics were far superior to Jordan's Bulls earlier in his career. Up until the 1987-88 season, the Celtics won 17 of their 19 games, including two playoff series. From about 1988 onwards, the Bulls caught up to the Celtics and won 13 of the 20 games until Bird's retirement. Jordan averaged 35.1 points in those match ups with Larry and Larry Legend averaged 26.4 points.

exactly, bird was bullying jordan whenever they are matched up 1v1 during 80s, when the rules still wasnt altered in favor of helping jordan win championships like in the 90s

I'm totally fine with Jordan and the Bulls dominating the Celtics. I'm enjoying it. >Larry Bird and the Celtics were on a dynasty getting credit for defeating Jordan when he had a trash squad. Bird on the other hand, had a top 5 seed team throughout his entire career. He never had to face Jordan on an awful squad, even during his injuries. In 91 and 92, the Celtics were the 2nd seed right below Jordan and the Bulls. They just under performed in the playoffs. >Jordan's team got better and the Celtics were barely a threat to them anymore. Once Jordan was on top, no one was in the same class.

Stop it...dont try and discredit anything Bird did lol...only 1 of 3 to win MVP 3 straight yrs...had 67% of the mvp vote during 80s..and u know all the great players from that decade.....if Bird didn't have the talent around him he did...he would have scored 35 a game.....Bird is the only player with at least 24 pts, 10 rb, 6 assist a game....Bird amd MJ...the 2 best at their positions ever...

@@keithhicks3006 You clearly aren't around on RU-vid videos that show Bird winning. When Bird wins any game on a RU-vid video, the comments are filled with insecure white fans trying to put Bird as the GOAT and delegitimize Jordan's career. All I did was criticize Bird based on facts and context.

Jordan with the help of Pippen would have destroyed Bird in the 80s; he didn't have help in the 80s, but once he got one allstar it was all over. in the 80s he played by himself basically

The Gamer Next House when Jordan won his first championship in 1991, Isiah was 29 years old, Magic was 31 and averaged 19.4, 12,5 and 7.0. I get that you’re a Jordan hater so by saying they were old and washed up you think it somehow diminished Jordans championships but it’s actually disrespectful to Isiah and Magic who were still relatively young and playing great. Bird was 34 and still a great player, it was just his injuries that slowed him down not his age or being “washed”

Yeah because Magic, Worthy, Isiah, Dumars, Ewing, Barkley, Drexler, Karl Malone, Stockton, Payton, Kemp, Dominique, Price, Daugherty, Olajuwon, David Robinson, Tim Hardaway, Mullin, Reggie Miller, Shaq, Penny, Mourning, Grant Hill, Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett and Tim Duncan we’re so weak right?!? You’ve got to be kidding me. The 1990s had as much or more talent than any other era in NBA history

@@jxn23 naming obvious names doesnt change the fact that 80s is a much tougher beast, and jordan not even leading his squad to any finals appearance while the league has fewer teams is absolutely laughable and a big joke for a "GOAT"
@jxn23
@jxn23 5 лет назад
@@barriverqualleen4550 Ok, I get that you're a Jordan hater and no amount of logic is going to change your mind. But for anyone that actually cares about context... Jordan only played for half of the 80s. Your comment implies that Jordan played for the whole decade and couldn't win during that time. His first five seasons in the NBA were at age 21-26. His first season (as a rookie) he led the Bulls to the Playoffs (7th seed) after finishing the previous year with the second worst record in the NBA. They lost to the Milwaukee Bucks that year who were second in the East with a 59-23 record. Jordan was injured for 64 games in his second season. The Bulls were a horrible 21-43 during those games that Jordan missed. That record shows just how weak that Bulls team was without Jordan. Jordan came back at the end of the season and the Bulls scraped into the Playoffs against the Celtics who were one of the best teams ever. The Celtics swept the Bulls despite Jordan averaging 43.7 points in the playoffs (including his 63 point game). The Bulls again got swept by the first placed Celtics in 1987. This may have been Jordan's weakest supporting cast with Charles Oakley and John Paxson being the only solid players. If you don't believe me, check out these names - Gene Banks, Brad Sellers, Dave Corzine, Earl Cureton, Elston Turner, Mike Brown, Sedale Threatt, Granville Waiters, Ben Poquette. I bet you've never heard of these players. The Bulls improved to 50-32 in the 1988 season with Jordan winning MVP, DPOY, scoring title, steals title. They beat the Cavs in the first round but lost in the conference semifinals to the Pistons who pushed the Lakers to game 7 in the 1988 Finals. The Bulls finally started to get some help for Jordan in Pippen and Grant. But neither of them were close to being stars with Pippen only averaging 7.9 points and Grant averaging 7.7 points as rookies. In 1989, Pippen and Grant developed into good players and the Bulls lost to the Pistons in 6 games in the Eastern Conference Finals after Pippen was knocked out in the first minute of game 6. The Pistons went on to sweep the Lakers in the 1989 Finals. The point is, Jordan simply didn't have any help from 1985-87. The Celtics and the Pistons were much stronger teams than Jordan's Bulls. As soon as Pippen and Grant developed, into good (not great) players, the Bulls started winning championships, beating the Pistons and the Lakers on the way. And before you start arguing the usual "the Pistons and Lakers were old" argument, when the Bulls beat them in 1991, Magic was 31, Worthy was 29, Perkins was 29, Byron Scott was 29, AC Green was 27 Isiah was 29, Dumars was 27, Rodman was 29. Aguire was 31, Salley was 26. These guys were in their peak. The Celtics beat the Bulls in 1986 and 1987 and the Bulls never got to play them again in the Playoffs. But when the Bulls started making it to the conference finals in 1989 and 1990, Bird was only 32, McHale was only 31, Reggie Lewis was 23, Danny Ainge was 29. Parish was the oldest guy on the team but was still only 35. By comparison, at 35, Jordan was the regular season MVP, Allstar game MVP, Finals MVP, led the league in scoring, All-defensive first team and won the championship. Also your argument that there were fewer teams doesn't make sense. Think about it, if there were fewer teams in the NBA, that would mean that the talent would be less spread across the league so each team would actually be stronger. And you say my naming 28 All time greats that played in the 1990s doesn't mean anything and that the 80's were tougher. Ok, go on, explain your reasoning. While you're at it, why don't you name 28 players from the 1980s that were better than the 28 I named. Finally, who do you say is the GOAT??? From your comments, it seems that your indicating that it is a player from the 1980's (because the 1980's were much toughter) but maybe you're just a Jordan hater looking for any argument to use against Jordan.
