Well, in all honesty, I bet you didn't know that Hal sits in the booth from behind the wall and "watches every inning of every game." Kay's officially lost a LOT of people, while lying about his "knowledge" of Hal "watching every inning of every game." This is not going to change until Hal sells. And Kay's comments, "Michael Fishman is a good guy." He's an idiot, just like Kay. This whole thing is more Yankees employees (Kay) trying to protect their job. See ya' Yankees, it was fun. Now, it's an embarrassment and one big LIE. And Kay is a part of it. Screw you, Kay. P.S. Obviously, your comment is 100% accurate.

Let's pretend adding a couple players fixes all the problems. The issue (for years) has been all or nothing hitting. Waiting on the home runs and striking out in the meantime. In 2023, even with all the injuries, the pitching was not the problem. So if you're telling me the answer is Keirmeier and Yamamoto, what exactly was fixed? Keirmeier solidifies the OF defense (despite Bader having done the same thing), but he's another unremarkable hitter in the lineup that can hit either .260 or .220. Yamamoto would make our rotation incredible, but again, pitching wasn't the problem. It's Soto or bust, guys. And that alone wont fix the offense, but it's the only move that we know goes in the right direction. Bellinger has a checkered past. I'm willing to bet on him, but that move could blow up in our face too. Soto is far less likely to fail. But the truth is, the entire organizational philosophy needs to change. Analytics is a powerful tool. It's also apparently a hell of a drug. It's not a philosophy, it's a utensil. It's not a list of commandments, "they're more like guidelines" (pirate accent). Moneyball was about how small market teams who can't attract big money players can count cards to equalize the playing field. It's done out of necessity. The Yankees are the biggest market team there is. They don't need to count cards. They can get the players they need. It's idiotic to use analytics to play like a small market team has to. You can just get guys that can hit. Do that.

@Malcolm.Y 8 месяцев назад
I won't argue with that, but I do think the years are more important. Is that 35 for 2 years or 35 for 10 years? They are locking these guys in to age 39 and 40. I would suggest that - for the 50 years of its existence - the effect of free agency is to pay players more than they are worth. So, of course Bellinger is going to get more than he is worth. Some owner overpays because he has to prove to the fans that he is trying to win so that they will keep buying season tickets. You want proof? Look at Tampa Bay. They don't need free agents. Last 3 or 4 years, it cost them 750K per win. The Yankees pay Cole alone $1M per start lol
@SpikeFartly
@SpikeFartly 8 месяцев назад

Bellinger isn't worth the 17.5 mil the Cubs tossed at him. The Dodgers cut him loose ( the only smart thing they've done recently), after playing worse than crap, and he wasn't worth giving $5 mil a year, and the idiots in the Cubs gave him that egregious amount. But, some FO fool, will justify $25 mil for 7 years. The Yankees if they get Bellinger, cannot realistically expect to get that Japanese pitcher, without shedding alot of payroll somewhere, or end up like the Mets, and be even a worse disaster!

The Yankees have ALOT of MAJOR problens, many of which, start and end with Brian Cashman. He's made alot of colossal mistakes. When his contract ran out a couple of years ago, he should not have been retained. Now the Yanks have a bevy of albatross contracts. Stanton, who has gone downhill like a meteor, and they are still on the hook for what 4/5 more seasons? They will probably have to eat the remainder if it, after '24,and release him. Giving Rodon that monster deal, after only one good season in SF. Add those to what they're paying Judge, and they can't take on another monster contract. Too many bad player contracts, and no way out of them for the next handfull of years. The Bombers are going to have a few down years till they clear that payroll glut, and including bringing in a new GM!

I sure hope he proves me wrong and spends a ton this off-season to cover up the errors that his GM has made of the years. I am sorry I doubt Hal Steinbrenner is watching every Yankees game. I see his sister at the ballpark more than Hal. I know the Yankees brass cannot get every good free agent. But try to make the team better to make them contenders again. Because bringing back Frankie Montas and just getting Kevin kermeirer just does not cut it! The players need to get back to that winning clubhouse atmosphere and mindset like the Jeter teams. Need talented players though too who want to win.

It doesnt take a special analytics guy to realize that we need more quality lefty bats for Yankee Stadium! Im so tired of the excuses and empty talk! We've passed on Harper, Seager, missed out on Olsen 2 years ago, a quality lefty bat/LF last offseason, etc. I wish they would just release Stanton already. Im so tired of seeing them roll him out there (and i mean they literally have to ROLL him out because he cant run!) What value do they think they still can get out of him? Hes HURTING (pun intended) this team!! Cut your freaking losses Hal, and sign Ohtani AND Yamamoto and you will easily make up that revenue and more from the Japanese market! Im tired of hearing how much they already spent. Stop rewarding your buddy Cashman with the GM job year after year and hold him accountable for putting you in this mess! Any other major corporation wouldve fired him for some of these dumb moves hes made more often than not and with 1 championship during his time that he arguably can take credit for. Stop prospect hoarding already (especially when most of ours dont seem to work out) and trade for Soto and immediately extend him. If not, then sign Bellinger!! Hal passed on "smart" investments like Harper or Seager ok..now he has a golden opportunity yet again to acquire two or three generational talents who are LEFTIES this offseasonn! If its too much for Hal to cut his losses and spend more money wisely to improve this team, then freaking sell it to someone who is willing to! Im sure there are HUNDREDS of Steve Cohen-like people out there who would want to buy this team and are willing to spend whatever it takes to save this franchise which has become a JOKE. To quote "Field of Dreams," If they build it, meaning spend what it takes (in a SMART WAY, not by taking on dumb Donaldson-like contracts or Rodon who had two surgeries) then we the fans (including that HUGE Japanese market) will come!!

My brother is a major attorney and an even more major Yankee Fan(with an original base and statues in his office). He did not go to Yankee games in NY or LA(unheard of) and almost mostly did not listen or watch. Yamamoto would be great. But Keimiar is no hitter. They absolutely need LH bats. Stanton one might say could get his swing back. But the man can’t run- welldone-could be. I, personally think it’s silly without LH bats. Brian Cashman should be embarrassed by his outburst. My instincts tell me, that “he” has been relying on analytics or others way to much.

If you are a Yankee fan like me, hopefully, you are outraged by the comments of Hal Steinbrenner. This is an owner that does not care about winning. The only thing that he was able to talk about is bunting, and not talking about what changes will be made to make the Yankees win the World Series in 2024. He also has decided to keep Aaron Boone and Brian Cashman, who in my opinion, both should have been fired. 2024 will be a repeat of 2023 if Hal Steinbrenner continues to keep doing the same things. We will go another year without winning a title.

I agree on Soto. But I think another issue with them is they seem to sign or acquire 1 big ticket item and then fill in the rest with bargain basement types. So the team has little depth. I’d like to see them also spend more on on middle tier free agents so their $300m payroll is more spread out and they can overcome when they have injuries.
