I wouldn’t call the WWE corny or cringe when a professional wrestler makes 20+ million a year and the guy who founded it is a billionaire. Be informed first before making these comments which make you look like an ignorant.
THANK YOU! I feel like the only one who thinks there's too much celebrating in baseball. When I point it out, people think I'm Abe Simpson shouting at the clouds.
With their $303 million payroll (2nd highest in MLB; half of the league's teams have payrolls under $150 million), making the playoffs is expected. A huge celebration is not merited. Baltimore will make the playoff with a payroll of $95 million.
Why is this even a topic? They clinch so leave it at that !!! I’m sure they won’t be the only team doing it. It’s an accomplishment. Not every team will clinch so what’s the problem?!
Of course Aaron Boone said something dumb, Holmes shouldn't have been back in the 8th especially against the heart of the order another example of Boone being the worst manager in the MLB.
They celebrated going to the playoffs, which they knew was going to happen like a month ago, and now they have a game tomorrow at 4 and they are all a little hungover. We are trying to clinch, not just go to the playoffs!
And people need to stop with this long season crap! They play baseball for a living. That is enjoyment enough. They don't have to celebrate every little achievement. It is like they are preparing for the possibility of failing to get to have a celebration.
And we can't trust Holmes. He proved that he shouldn't be on this team months ago. We shouldn't be testing if he should be on the postseason roster when he should already be gone. Yankees should have won that one in regulation yesterday.
The next step for the Yankees to at least go 6 and 3 and sweep the A’s and take 2 out 3 from Orioles for the Yankees to clinch first place, or combination of Orioles losses leading to playing against Yankees on Tuesday. Yankees need to get the job done by beating the Astros once and for all if they make to the playoffs
Don makes a fair point about using Holmes last night to see whether he can be trusted in the playoffs. Problem is that Boone will still use Holmes in the playoffs, and probably in a high leverage situation, because he liked what he saw from Holmes last night except for the one bad pitch. That is how Boone thinks.
Criticizing celebrating clinching a playoff birth is such a dumb old man take. Get over yourself. Judging these guys for having fun after a long stressful season Jesus Christ. Get a life

It's weird. Appreciate Peter & Don's comments with regard to over-the-top champagne goggle spray fest. Not cool. Eleven other teams will be doing it in the next week or so, with 21 total celebrations in all . That's a lot of wasted bubbly. Has to be a better way to celebrate these pre-WS triumphs with some class. Win the WS -- OK! Tare it up, forget the goggles, the plastic and just let'er ripe boys!
About the celebrations, personally I have always disliked when all the extra layers to the championship (world series) were added, also never been a fan of interleague play, I feel the game has been continously ruined , just saying
