I don't know why Keating didn't continue to have television roles for decades. He was excellent as Vila, and seems charming and intelligent and self-depreciating as a person.
He's mostly done minor roles down the years, quite prolific though, last 25 years he's done quite a lot of radio/audio drama. I've got the Blu Ray of Julius Caesar from 1970, he was playing a plebian appearing with the likes of Charlton Heston and Roddy McDowall, I imagine around the world there are a lot of people who see his face and think they recognise him, but can't remember where from.
Had a Blake’s 7 dream that I had to keep Vila away from Travis, and get him to the Liberator safely, then for some reason we had to make sure the TARDIS was onboard the Liberator.😂😂
Avon was if anything slightly annoyed that in relation to electronics, Vila had in many ways greater technical ability, though ironically Paul Darrow had a reputation as possibly having the least technical ability of the cast with regard to any kind of hardware, his ability being able to memorise and convincingly perform the script, but apparently he frequently unintentionally broke screen props.
Avon was more intellectual, and certainly had more knowledge; from a more privileged upbringing. Vila was just as intelligent but in a different way. I consider Vila to have more wisdom than any of the other crew, as exemplified by his comment to Keril 'suicide is bad for your [spiritual] health.'
