I lost my son to suicide this January. These lyrics and video hit so hard... it captures my feelings and also somehow feels like maybe my son could’ve wrote this. I miss you Ro, forever 16 ❤️

This song makes me feel so many emotions. But most of all it reminds me of the love I still have for my husband who passed last year. And his passing leaving me a newborn to raise alone has completely leveled my life and I don’t know how the next day keeps coming. Idk how the sun keeps rising and he isn’t here anymore. I’m a shell of a person trying to find my way as a mother thru the most devastating grief I could have ever imagined. Thank you for this song.

I shared this song with my dad before he died almost 5 years ago. He was crying at the lyrics, he was so moved by certain lines. He said it was one of the most beautiful and sorrowful songs he had heard in 30 years. He died within 2 weeks. The last song that touched him. I miss him. (Thank you the responses.) He was having a heart procedure the next day, already had filled out his PoA and will. He called friends crying the night before he died, he never called me or my sisters. I think he knew he was going to die and he couldn't tell us. I wish he would have. I have so many regrets. I'd give the world to hear him again. Feel the safety of having him hug me. I slow danced all night with my one true love to this album, it was one of the most surreal and beautiful moments of my life ....the relationship ended/pasued but 8 years later we found our way back to each other and it's brought this album back and all the associated beauty and memories and new ones we are making that I will take with me to the next life... if there is a soundtrack to the happy memories it will be this album without a doubt.

I met a nurse with the name kiwanuke in the course of my job. She said I pronounced the name well.....I said well there's a great singer called michael kiwanuke. Turns out her husband is Michaels cousin!

This song has gripped me and given me such bliss. I've planned my suicide twice, once in 2007 and then again in 2018. I nearly went through with each plan until something would interrupt that attempt, and I found myself losing each day, instead of living. And for the first year in twelve years, I'm in a healthy mental and emotional space. I had to start all over again, and this song reminds me of that day, 28th October 2019, when I decided to make the change. Thank you Michael. These times are tough but they are not forever. We can get better. Every day is a new start. You just have to put your running shoes on.

I'm a father of 11 year old twin boys, I've struggled with addiction to hard drugs and somehow beat it before I had kids. My recent huge struggle has been with tobacco. I've been smoking since I was like 16. I'm 38 now. I quit cigarettes right before Covid, just a coincidence, but I still crave tobacco when I drink, so I started smoking cigars. Y'know, the 99 cents for a pack of two White Owls. The thing is, I inhale them way more than I should. Ever since this song and video got stuck in my head, I've started having this paranoid idea that I probably have lung cancer. For the past couple months I'd wake up early early in the morning with this song in my head, a pain in my chest and a fear in my heart. A fear that one day I'll suddenly not be here for my boys. If you ever happen to read this, I want you to know that it's this song you wrote, and also this video with it, that led me to put that shit down for good. I haven't smoked for about two weeks now, except for the green. I don't think I'll ever quit that, but that's only a two-toke bedtime thing. So, thank you, man. Thank you for making this. Thank everyone involved. I don't know how one song that got stuck in my head every morning for like 2 months changed my life, but I guess that's just how it works sometimes. Everything has its place and time, and somehow you just happened to put me on my way to the next thing I want to quit. Next stop is the beer. One step at a time, man.
