The power is projected from the communal councils, and is bequeathed sparingly towards the top when needed, in direct and stark contrast to our own political system. They have problems just like we do ... in may ways much greater, considerably more than two different languages and ethnic groups, however from the outside looking in appear to be a stable and well organised nation. We on the other hand appear to be a cot case of woke anglophile guilt ... with numerous experts rewriting and reinterpreting a poorly non constitutional document as some sort of lost testament of a false prophet. The treaty was signed by predominantly the NI chiefs because they could see that the crown could bring about some semblance of peace between the tribes of the NI. The crown offered governance and guaranteed ownership, the injustices followed with variable interpretations by successive governors and land settlement companies. A great many of those injustices have been addressed by the waitangi tribunal (Thankyou Doug Graham et el), long may that process continue. The point is that as a nation we need to support a better quality of power projection ... 3 waters was a direct theft of local councils power over their own destinies.
