@@salozmen29 Actually he wrote numerous songs, many of which were hits but you probably wouldn’t have known if you weren’t scrolling through youtube and someone didn’t tell you.
The Monkees are up towards the top of my list of favorite 60s pop groups. Up there with the Beatles, the Byrds and the Beach Boys. Thank you Mickey, and RIP Mike, Peter & Davey.
Glad to see (and hear) that on this, the Monkees farewell tour, Micky is singing some of the songs from his fantastic, recent solo album, Dolenz Sings Nesmith. That collection is brilliantly produced and arranged by Mike's son, Christian, and deserves more exposure and recognition. It's proof that the " does not fall far from the tree". Like his father, his musical taste is exquisite. I look forward to seeing Mike and Micky perform when they play NYC in October!! Thanks to all for making this happen one last time.

1:14 I met Mike at a free concert in Albany, Oregon around 1998. He did a great show and afterward I mentioned how much I loved his work with the First National Band. He thanked me and told me how much that meant to him. He was really nice to talk to and we shook hands at the end of our conversation.
I fantasized about Conan O'Brien uttering to George Mickey Dolenz Jr., "The sound of your music sucks." Since I treated this case like a funny joke. It's when my father said to me, "Don't mess with me." Duane G. Shelton butts in saying to me, "You like messing with your father?" The sound of George Mickey Dolenz Jr's music sometimes causes me to bad enough to want to go bonkers.
the missing verse though.. "Well I feel pretty sure That you'll find a man Who will take a lot more than I ever could or can And you'll settle down with him And I know that you'll be happy" Would have been pretty easy to rewrite that from the female perspective for Linda . Maybe back then, for a woman to talk about ''taking a lot more than I ever could or can" was too much? I mean ..it pretty much applies to most men I have dated and how I got to feeling about them :-)
The Greenbriar Boys sang the song before Linda Ronstadt. I believe she listened to their version first which they did not include that verse. Not sure if she ever heard Mike Nesmith's version in either case she was following more along the lines of the Greenbriar Boys version.
One of the strangest performance videos I have ever seen. In his prime Nesmith wanted virtually nothing to do with the band, blowing off most of the invitations when everyone wanted him there. And here he is at the end, more dead than alive and seemingly not knowing where he is, mouthing the words to his own song out of sync and with his microphone turned off. Pretty puzzling why he wanted to be there then and not before.
