I think you both have a great statement regarding the use of the word "pathethic" I understand M_ Angel in what's she's trying say that the song did indeed convey the feeling of someone relying on their gf/bf/partner to complete them. I guess in that regard I would say it would make it 'pathethic' logically but the song, I would like to assume isnt at all about that. Thus, I support Ovela's view that the song is trying to convey one's feeling and emotion in loving the person just as the song lyrics describe the emotions through methapor. the word "Pathethic" I would argue has a varying degree of "harshness" to whoever hears it. If I may also say, I understood My Angel's INTENTION in using the word but it can/may IMPACT others such as the viewers differently to how you may have intended it. Also, I wouldn't personally call people who thinks of their partner the world and being subject being in love pathethic because it is both logical and and emotional response to the force we call love. To a degree it does seem illogical to devout that much love to an individual but it completely normal and assuring in a sense that we should feel that way but with limitations. Thank You!
I understand your point M-Angel. We can make it a little "less harsh" just like what Ovela said. The lyrics are too much. Too much sweetness. But yeah it's not a bad thing, though.
