What do you have against Mythologies? Also I know MK11 had a poor story but at least it wasn't as horrible as MKX. At least we suffered less Cassie Cage in 11.

@@tiaaaron3278 I love Cassie, LMAO. Maybe that's where we differ. MK11 robbed her of a good arc and gave it to Liu Kang instead and it pissed me off. I don't have anything against Liu Kang btw, it's just that in this new timeline since MK9 he has never been the main focus, and now in MK11 we get a variant of him from the past and HE gets to be the hero? Naaaah. It really should have been Cassie, she had been built up ever since Johnny and Sonya were the ONLY survivors of MK9. As for Mythologies, it was my very first MK game I ever played and nostalgia doesn't blind me. I had it for the PS1 and it had to compete with masterpieces like Metal Gear Solid, so when I went to replay it everything just felt wrong and weird (for MK standards of course).

@@plasmasnake3691 Cassie kind sucks because she came out of nowhere and hijacked the main hero role from better characters. It doesn't help that she's a bad rip-off of her parents and can't stand on her own and has no arc. She wasn't worth the timeskip tbh. Beating Shinnok was a new low. Cassie is the Forest Law of MK. I play these games to see sorcerers, monks, gods and ninjas doing their fantasy things, not a stupid puny soldier stealing the spotlight.

Okay that last one could have just been "Alright I say alright" honestly. I relatively like 2021 live-action MK movie, sure Cole Young is crap and the whole aracana thing was bull but everything else I do quite enjoyed. the fight scenes were good, the fatalities were amazing(especially Kung Lao's),the begining and ending part with Sub Zero and Scorpion was amazing and Kano was funny as hell. It even did well in the box office that a sequel is in works (hopefully better than the last).

My favorite Michael Rosen memes are the ones that combine different clips together to describe one thing. Gives good sense of unpredictably and elevation to the opinion, and also gives more depth and life to the meme. This was a good one.

@@ubermaster134 I hate what they did to Sindel, but I was eventually able to look past how they butchered her story arc( it took a while) because "Fire God Liu Kang" made everything worth it for me in the end. Liu Kang is a perfect example of " writers not knowing what to do with a character" and it sucked. You kill off the hero and make him a zombie in the OG timeline.Then in the reboot, you make him an asshole in all his arcade mode endings and turn him into a revenant goon in the main story.Bruh, I was pissed when Liu Kang and Kung Lao stayed undead in MK10.

Yeah, at the expense of Johnny and Cassie's character arcs. Liu Kang didn't do jack schitt throughout MK9 and MKX, and now all of a sudden he's the new main character? It wasn't even the OG Liu Kang, it was a variant from the past brought by Kronika. Nah, it didn't feel earned at all.

@@plasmasnake3691 MK 11 was one of those stories which I liked on the first go round, but after playing again realized that their was a lot of stupid choices and misuse of characters in it. Im glad they wrapped up the "revenant bullshit", but characters like NOOB SAIBOT we're like, just there and didn't even serve a bigger purpose.Sidel being a complete 180 of her original self, D'Vorah, Kotal being whipped massively in the story...

EXACTLY the same reaction I had. And after that they just kept killing more and more kharacters of great importance. Ruining potential for the future in the process. UGHHH! THINK about it. They expect to make a cinematic universe when in the FIRST movie BEFORE the first tournament even begins they've already killed the likes of Reptile, Mileena, Goro, Kabal, Kano, Kung Lao, and Bi-han?? Are they nuts?!

Indeed it did. Like I said, one of the biggest problems with the movie is that it introduced WAAAAY TOO MANY khraracters and didn't take time to develop them. Imagine if they had focused only on the roster of the first game. We would have seen more of that first scene of Hanzo and Bi-han throughout the movie instead of only at the beginning and very end.

I agree. The costume design and special effects were top notch! There was a lot of comedy too from Sonya and Kano mostly which was hilarious. One of my main problems are indeed the waste of having so many undeveloped characters just to be killed off like Goro, Mileena, Kung Lao, and Kabal.

It wasn't too bad, but maybe they should've definitely spent more time in the writing room. Especially with their main character and as well as to how everyone exactly gets their powers. Like- I find the idea of Kano or Jax getting their upgrades from actual tech and Bi-Han getting his abilities from being a dying race of outworlders rather than some wack symbol that just plops on you

The moment I heard about an OC being a main protagonist of the new Mortal Kombat movie, hahahaha I can understand if it is an indie movie or a fan project, but it is a professionally made movie with tons of budget. Out of many MK roosters they could've developed, they chosed to use OC and give him a Gary Stu role. Glad that I didn't spend any cent to watch it in theater. Unless someone pays me to watch it, I don't think I ever want to watch that movie.

I agree 100% 11 had some good parts. But it went too far in the wrong direction in others. And the same can be said about the movie, I suggest you watch it eventually and judge it by your own standards, there's some good parts even though it's overall so out of touch.

I both have deadly alliance and Deception, and I agree (the only thing I need to finish unlocking are each character's ending in the arcade mode, except Shujinko which I cleared specifically to give the story mode its appropriate closure)

Honestly one of the things I enjoyed on the MK 2k21 movie was that the film included one of the things that the 90's movies didnt: GORE!!! I know its simple, but it is, in my opinion, one of the aspects that distinguish the franchise.

Yes, but violence without a good story is just visual noise. An example of violence used perfectly is The Punisher Season 1. It's pretty violent at times but there's a couple fights towards the end that cross the line BY FAR with the violence. Some stuff I didn't think a tv show was even allowed to show, and it's ONLY satisfying because we understand WHY the people dying that violently deserved it. In MK2021 they die violently and it's just like... Okay?

My take in the new movie : Need Better Script and More Duration. The Duration was being cut into 1 and ½ hours just because the executive wanted it to be like MCU(no seriously, he said it). The Cast is fine i guess BUT they need to swap out the cast with the Roles, most likely for Shang Tsung and Raiden. Bi Han and Hanzo is Perfect. But for Cole, Liu Kang and Kung Lao i think they need to be swapped too.

Here's how I see it. It was a good movie if the plan was to make it the ONLY MK movie. But if their plan was to make a cinematic universe out of it then they did a terrible job setting up the universe, the kharacters, and what's worse is they killed potential for a lot of great stories in the future. That's so frustrating about it. If you want some positives I think the kostumes and kharacter designs were really good, and I actually LOVE the idea of the Arcana granting powers to those who have the mark and manage to unlock it.

@@williambeck2372 In a nutshell, it's wasted potential. MK as a franchise has cinematic universe potential, and this movie ruins any chance of that happening. They introduced too many characters (without developing them or explaining where they come from) and killed too many others.

Sorry, I never really played them. Much less their story modes. I pretty much only have Tekken 7 to play as Negan, whom I wish was in MK instead.

Me neither lmao. It jumped the shark horribly. Everything up to that point I had enjoyed though, the tournament was intense and the steaks were high. And the very ending wasn't too bad. The trailer for the next one doesn't seem to follow up this story though so it has me a bit worried.

What can I expect?? Are you seriously asking that question? MK has such a DEEP lore that it could easily rival that of Halo and Star Wars. The main problem with this movie isn't Cole, it's the fact that they wasted potential for an MK Cinematic Universe by introducing so many characters WITHOUT developing them and killing off most of them. That's just the tip of the iceberg though, there's plenty wrong with the movie. The only original idea they had that made sense was the markings and the idea of the Arcana granting them their powers. That was cool.

I have a friend who thinks so too, but he barely knew MK existed before the movie since he's not a gamer. Have in mind that the description in the video are my opinions as a HARDCORE fan of the franchise. Glad you liked the movie though, I really tried liking it but it was worse on 2nd viewing 😭
