What a singer he is. First singer in history to win singer of the year awards in both the International Opera Awards and Oper! Awards. Well, he can't be that bad!! 😎
It is always amazing to hear Michael Spyres sing. His voice is unique and I am still proud that he learned the word and the concept "barytenore" in an audition he made for me March 2007 with Almaviva's Cessa di più resistere - with incredible low and beautiful variations - and that consequently had his debut at our festival ROSSINI IN WILDBAD with LA GAZZETTA 2007 and the unforgettable OTELLO with Jessica Pratt and Fogliani conducting. Later we recorded SIEGE DE CORINTHE and GUILLAUME TELL, the uncut version... and now he will sing in Bayreuth's WALKÜRE as I predicted 17 years ago (I said 20 years later, he was faster, like always...) He can litterally sing everything. What a gift!
I only discovered Michael Spyres a few weeks ago, on Utube, singing Largo al Factotum. I have been listening to Utube videos of him ever since. He is not only an amazing singer, but has huge charm. I'm 87,and I'm in love! 😂
The band doesn’t sound like a typical HIP ensemble to me: reedy and like shredded wheat. That may be an advantage for this release. Wonder how the Wagner will sound.
