Michael a traveler from Kent is staying at The Dhoon Bay Kirkcudbright for a few days.He walks in to town to do some shopping.A tune on his Pipes might acquire him some cash.
The most beautiful horse I ever saw, like something from a legend, was a pure white unusually tall cob with a flowing mane. It had escaped from its owners, travelers living down the road from us. It came thundering into our yard with 2 young men hot on its heels trying to catch it. It turned around and ran back out again and nearly hit a car. It was ok in the end but wow what an Animal 😍
I’m only fourteen and I know this seems wierd considering most people my age would not be like this, but this is honestly how I want to live,(also I too play the pipes) also I have somewhat of a plan so far as to what I would live in. I plan to get a small job while I prepare, buy a decent sized trailer and some strong wood and create the wagon that way. Don’t yet know how I’d get a horse. I just want a more simple and peaceful life, I’d prefer it that way. I’d probably travel around Britain and do some small odd jobs to make a bit of money.
Impressive working horseman . I wish that I would have had the balls to go against the warnings from the riding school's owner to beware of the Gypsy 's that camped out in a field in Bray , County Wicklow , Ireland . I watched them in their beautiful clothing , feeding their Cobbs ... one man waved at me everyday - I remember him still and this is now 30 years ago . Silly how fear can make regret .
Brooks Equine not all of them are good, some steal your horses and don’t take care of them properly this guy is the fist one that I have seen take good care of his horses
Why oh Why are so many great youtube videos ruined by adding music tracks. I love to hear the natural sounds of the hooves and the creak of the saddle or in this case the harness and wagon. The occasional informative voiceover or a rider/driver who regularly talks to their horse is good but I always mute the so called music before it drives me bonkers. I seldom if ever come back to these obnoxious music videos unless the subject can stand alone as a silent movie.
I agree but I'm sure he felt obliged since we have MUZAK everywhere in our society, in stores, elevators and at gas pumps. One of my pet peeves in life.
@@chrissymon it's not just the internet, its everywhere! At restaurants, gas pumps, Home Depot, elevators. Is there some grand conspiracy to keep our minds scrambled and distracted with excess stimuli?
As far as I know there is places in Ireland where they rent out gypsy wagons and gypsy vanner horses to tourists during the summer months and you move from farm to farm who run these holidays.
The nick coller is two small for is nick sorry to have to say that as I no that horses he be long you Me go on RU-vid put in Terry freshwater on the way to stow horses fair
He casually walks at a stroll with a horse pulling a caravan with a horse on tow in a 30 possibly 40 holding up the traffic the horse at the front in bad need of a wash then stands playing terribly on the bagpipes unbelievable
Well I can say that was no better horses then to do is job hope the lord gives him the best home s hordes he can ever have and go back to issues mate's ware was withe
It's nice to see he enjoys walking along with the horse - when my wife and I traveled by horse and wagon for about a year - we walked as often as we could - we enjoyed walken and didn't want to get lazy just riden all the time. I love it - this guy is real - not just a weekender.
I love all these Traveller vids, but for one thing. I really wish just a few minutes could be spent on grooming the horses. They just look uncomfortable getting tacked up first thing. I know a full groom isn,t possible but a quick rub down, then a candy brush run over them would only take a few minutes and surely would make the horse feel better. Like us in the morning having a quick lick, spit and a Polish.🐎🐎
@@jessie9384 I grew up around horses and never did I tack up without at least a rub down with a wisp of straw, then a dandy brush. Same thing at the end of the day, even if they had only been out to pasture. Doesn,t matter if you are tired, cold or wet, the horse comes first. I agree with you,
@@getin3949 grooming depends on the person. Some people would argue is a full body brush, oiling, hot clothing each day and or before a ride/work. While others argue it’s keeping the horse in check, the cob clearly won’t get mud past it’s feathers so mud fever isn’t going to be a problem. What’s the point in cleaning them off in these conditions if they will likely get this muddy again by the end of the day, during the night and into the next morning. It wouldn’t be worth the time for the horse or the owner until they have somewhere dry to settle for a couple nights. Then they can dish out a full groom, the horses are wet, you don’t brush wet horses that just drives water further into their coat. I’d say by assuming the man’s conditions I wouldn’t say that a clean pony would do anything but slow them down into getting somewhere comfortable.
Totally agree, seems a trend now to have video's with ghastly music drowning out the natural sounds of whatever is being filmed....even worse when it's rock music or techno' tracks........
Here's an interesting little video, guaranteed no music, well, except for a Hurdy Gurdy and Breton Pipes at the end....ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KKyDN0q8bzA.html
Pulling horse is a Gypsy Cob......(in UK) and the one behind seems to be more of a Trotter bred. Legs are nearly hairless....length of tsil says 3yo and shes a lighter body type. So hes probably going to get a 'Spinner' cart...not for race trotting but for spins to town so the Pulling horse gets more break time 😁
My favorite kind of horse. Vanner Cobs would have been great for pickin rock and haulin bails back when I did that sort of thing. Better than climbing on and getting off a tractor when you only want to move 10 feet.
@@kroakie4 South west Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway, its interesting to see my local area on the net, when covids been and gone you should come and visit.
When we do not go anywhere , take the things out of the horse body to make him relax. So many thing on his body. Make a cage for them to stay when it is cold.
@JCBAirmaster73 before you insult the man consider what he said, I would guess English is not his native tongue, for cage try shelter, and it starts to make sense, as an exercises try writing something in Serbia Croat, or Finish or whatever then get a native speaker of that to read it and see how you got on!.
Why is this lovely horse not groomed before tacking him/ her up. It’s like us not washing before we dress. To me it’s lazy ness and to be honest a bit of neglect. Sorry.
I pray he takes care of these sweet baby's they look to need a bath an grooming by all means. Why the wee one in the back Does not look to be happy at tall, Poor baby's my goodness 😔 Sad because he looks well dressed...
Because horses can tow between once and one and a half times their own weight, depending on the difference in level of the ground, among other things. By having several horses, this makes it possible to avoid wearing them out too prematurely, especially by living in the caravan year round.
