This sublime and solemn presentation of the forces of Nature, (which is Gods second book) Death, Love, Forgiveness and Fatherhood, is not merely another Romantic Age poem but a Prodigal Poem of unwavering beauty in an ever changing world of ugliness that unleashes the muse of our hearts letting her dance in and out of each epoch of Mans dark Story and into the radiant fields of Eternity where, unlike Luke we are united with our true Shepherd. For Michael is another magnificent and purely Wordsworthian title for God himself.
The Pastoral Michael, is a vast poem in blank verse with the wise Virgilian guide of William Wordsworth assuming the role of our narrator. He leads us steadily on, atop high weathered rocks until a tragic scene strikes where the poet relates the tale of the eponymous shepherd Michael and his only son Luke with intense love and wisdom.

I seem to have found him: John Atkinson Grimshaw, for those who are interested.
