Un chef d'oeuvre cette chanson ! Michel Berger est vraiment parti trop tôt.....Imaginez toutes les superbes chansons qu'il aurait pu écrire depuis sa disparition en 1992.....
Michel Berger is a famous pianist. He's Starmania author with Luc Plamondon. He's died young only 40 years. He's France Gall husband and write for her many beautiful songs.
Michel Berger is one of the VERY BEST.. Michel BERGER: " Chanter pour ceux qui sont loin de chez eux" Fantastique sad mélodie with épic ending and crazy bass at the end.. 💖🔥.
The funny thing is that Michel berger is the one who wrote "SOS d'un terrien en détresse" which was adapted and interpreted by Peter Kingsbery And the name of the song is "only the very best"
You have it the other way around: you feel Michel Berger's vibe in France Gall's (and many others) songs and singing style. Michel Berger shaped the music of the 70s and 80s. He wrote the score for Starmania (you've now listened to "SOS d'un terrien en detresse" and "Ziggy"). His work cannot be ignored if looking at that period. He was a remarkable piano player, song writer and all around influencial artist for some many artists around him (he wrote for many beyond his wife France Gall). You're correct: France Gall is part of the chorus. I'm with you: I always loved his message, very positive and hopeful. Always thoughtful and inclusive. A good message I personally took to heart then and continue to cherish. It's also probably the reason these songs have endured and still speak to us to this day.
France Gall was my friend. We met in Senegal on N'Gor Island where we both lived. She was an amazing woman, human and friend. She was so generous with locals, buying business for her friends.. I miss her.
Elton John lived a very long time in France and knew and appreciated the music of Michel Berger and France Gall a lot, this is the reason why he absolutely wanted to meet them to work with them and then Michel Berger will design the song. "Donner pour donner" that Elton and France will sing ... It was Elton who was inspired by Michel Berger's piano and not the other way around because Berger was a much better pianist ...
Hello Dereck! You should listen to France Gall's "Il jouait du piano debout", an iconic song Michel Berger wrote for her at the same period. You should also check their duet "ça balance pas mal à Paris", he plays the piano and they sing together.
Hi Dereck! Since you like Michel Berger's energy, the most logical follow-up would be LES PRINCES DES VILLES that is another great hit of his from the same period. Keep up the good work. Take care.
Usually that's him whose playing piano... he's the composer. he's so great ! We can hear that playing piano is a pleasure for him. He made so many music for other singers, women and men, and sang some himself.
Thank you for that reaction, Dereck. Michel Berger is such a great musician, composer, lyricist and singer. A totally great artist. Also, he's France Gall's husband. And, if you listen very carefully, she sings with him when he says "La Groupie du pianiste". Clearly, that song is really good and I would also like to recommend to you another song from Michel Berger : "Mademoiselle Chang". It's also a nice song and I'm pretty sure that you'll love it too.

Michel Berger was an amazing song writer (he actually co wrote a rock opera called Starmania), I’m really curious of what I could have been capable of in 2021. Truly missing him and France Gall ❤️
The point is that the song "Il jouait the piano debout" of Frange Gall and this one are responding each other. The same way the love songs of Veronique Sanson and Michel Berger ones are responding. Music love triangle.
I have listened to this song many times and I just noticed France's voice while Michel says "La groupie du pianiste" while Dereck is listening to the song. Same for the sound of the bass in Envole-moi, I didn't notice that before, and God knows how many times I have listened to it I listen carefully to all those songs that I love especially while Dereck is listening too
others titles from michel berger: « si tu plonges », « y’a pas de honte », « ça ne tient pas debout », « laissez passer les rêves » (with france gall) XX
Yes It's normal that Michel Berger's songs has France Gall vibes because Michel Berger composed France Gall's songs Indeed Berger is a super great melodist not only for her but for him too, he composed many catchy melodies You've also reacted to an another one "Le Paradis Blanc"
Michel Berger wrote a song dedicated to Elton John. Both him and France sang it. The title is "Il jouait du piano debout" (he plays piano standing up). It's a good one too 😉
Thanks for your reacts. I really like the bass line in this song. I strongly suggest another mid tempo song from him with some good lyrics which is all about being passionate by music : "Tout pour la musique" . France Gall singing + Berger in the choir +monster bass & drums + honky piano + nice synth + some scat = bananas in danger !
By the way, they knew each other with Elton John. Elton made a duet with France Gall. Bruno Marteli's role in the film and television series "Fame" reminded me of him. Yes, music and, above all, the piano counts a lot because it is above all a composer. The female voice is France Gall, his wife (before knowing him, she was a star and had won Eurovision thanks to a song by Serge Gainsbourg, a great author that I recommend). Before he passed away, he released a two-part album with his wife. His music was evolving in new directions but alas we will never know how far he would go (example: "Letting dreams pass"). Besides being the songwriter of the musical "Starmania", he has also worked with singers like Johnny Hallyday's "Something From Tennessee" and the cover of "Diego".
you have to react to the song "twin" of this one, since Michel Berger sang "la groupie du pianiste", and his wife France Gall sang the song of the groupie which is called "il jouait du piano debout" !!! One does not go without the other !!!
Michel Berger a écrit cette chanson pour France Galle Cette chanson raconte tout ce qu'elle a pu faire avant qu'il ne la remarque et qu'il devienne marie et femme ❤️
Michel Berger, France Gall, Daniel Balavoine....
And Michel Berger was composed and sing another beautiful and rythmics songs: "quand on est ensemble" wonderful and "ça ne tient pas debout" 2 fabulous songs.
"Le Snoopy du Peanuts", yes, you was not far Dereck! :))) Good title, but I prefer "Les Princes des Villes" of M. Berger. It's best to listen the Official Audio "Les princes des villes (Remasterisé en 2002)" than the Official Video cause sound is better and the best part of the title is cut in the video-clip. ;)
michel berger was a very good pianist and lyricist! he wrote little wonders, especially for himself, france gall and veronique sanson. you hear france gall in the choir. two other essential pianists, lyricists and singers: William Sheller and Michel Polnareff
Berger never wrote any song for Sanson. He produced her first and second albums.

Dereck, you should give a try to Serge Gainsbourg "Hey man amen", from Live au Zénith 1989. This is pure magic filled with synth, bass, drums, chorals, and saxo. I think this is just made for you.
Hello Dereck, if you like Michel Berger and his piano style, you should try Veronique Sanson and 'Amoureuse'. Very good pianist and wonderfull voice. She flirted with Michel Berger before he get married to France Gall.
Sanson wasn't flirting. She was somehow engaged with Michel, but dropped him to follow an American singer. Berger was very depressed by this.. Then F.Gall which has been dropped by C.Francois when she won the Eurovision song contest get to fallback on the lone Berger. I had always thought that this song describe the life of F.Gall with C.Francois.
Michel Berger is famous for Starmania :a musical show. You probably heard about through songs like "SOS d'un terrien en détresse", Ziggy, or le monde est stone. The last one has an English version. See about it, you will find many versions of each song by different artist, but all is written by Michel Berger.
I might be wrong but I think I heard somewhere that the pianist in this song is kind of a reference to Elton John. Another song that has the same vibe is 'PRINCE DES VILLES', great great song
