Thanks for consolidating these videos. Regarding defense, in Sicard's system, any time where you are pulling distance because your opponent is attacking, without being induced, is considered defense. He contrasts that with the induced actions, where you make a preparatory step forward, drawing your opponent's reaction and step forward before executing your touch. If your attack fails and the distance breaks down, he teaches his athletes to basically remise and scrap. I"m not sure if the response to a failed attack is also included in his definition of defense.
