Michelob Ultra is a 4.2% ABV light lager. Michelob is the German name for Měcholupy, now in the Czech Republic, where Anton Dreher had a brewery. The early 21st century saw in the U.S. a demand for diet beer similar to that of the early 1970s, and in 2002 the Michelob line responded with the introduction of Michelob Ultra, advertised as being low in carbohydrates.

I think it's an excellent ultra-light beer, not that I'd ever want to drink an ultra-light beer. The town of Michelob was under German (Austrian) control, with a mostly Germanic population, until 1918 and again from 1939-1945.

I’ve managed to get drunk off these on numerous occasions, however unfortunate that may be. So I have a slight soft spot for them. I’d rather drink these than almost any of the others in its class, if for no other reason than that seltzer-esque guilt-free drinking experience but without the disgusting seltzer taste. Cheers!

There’s definitely a bit of a guilt-free aspect to this beer, huh. One of the main reasons I said I really get why people would buy these.

One thing ill say about this beer is it has more of a carbonated "bite" then coors light has.. that makes me want it over a coors light sometimes.. ps, this is cold from the glass bottle for me.. it has a bite!

I’d agree with that! It’s definitely not meant to be poured out, that’s for sure.

Coincidentally we had a family gathering and my family member bought some. Aroma is very ricey with a light amount of fermenting or pickleness. You're talking to someone who can eat anything and isn't put off by durian, so I really have no problem with the aroma. I was pretty surprised by how light it is. Felt like seltzer water mixed with beer, but it need more CO2, body felt too thin. No skunkiness which is important. I like the light sourness. Within the context of a macro beer, 3.5/5. It's not amazing, but doesn't have anything that put me off. Tasted much better than filtered water. Now I'm curious about Yuengling Light.

I think within the context of macro beers, 3.5 is very fair. Aside from the aroma, which most of these corn syrup based American lagers and pilsners seem to have to some level, it’s pretty well made. I’m very curious about Yuengling light as well. We recently did a little trip to their tap house in tampa and reviewed their Bock, which was fantastic.
