Thank you for posting this. I lived in TC from August 1971 thru October 1984. I cannot tell you how many times I've driving that route in your video. The area has really grown since I left. i was constantly pausing the video to check out the land marks. Just before US 31 swing to the right by the bay, the old Holiday inn is still there. As a musician I played there several times...not to mention all the bands I watch play there in the Viking Lounge. Thanks again.
I did know they have installed LED street lights in Traverse City (Cherry City) in 2008. Other area did they installed LED street lights are: I-75 at Birch Run, exit 136, and I-94 (Edsel Ford Freeway) between I-75 (Chrysler Freeway) and M-10 (John Lodge Freeway) back in 2008. Those are the first LED street lights to be installed. Today, about 90% of the LED street lights has been installed.
Actually, I guess I used the wrong terminology for the video, as it is technically not a timelapse but rather a normal video that was sped up in editing.
+karen b The state route is designated as a northbound/southbound highway, even if I was heading east geographically on that stretch. However, I still did make a mistake in saying it was south; I was actually heading northbound on US-31 in the second half of the video, and southbound in the first half, since the route of US-31 continues northward after the section I drove in the last part of the video. Not sure about your first statement; there are other things to consider on the drive besides getting peak traffic levels the entire time and I wanted to make the drive later in the evening anyway.
@@Samgoogolplexian Technically, you weren't downtown. If you had gone straight when you passed the holiday Inn, instead of following US 31 to the right by the bay, you would have gone down Front Street and all the shops. I used to live in a small apartment at 125 1/2 E. Front. Just west of my apartment is Union street running N and S. In the NW corned of that intersection is the old Traverse City State Bank building. Next time take us through downtown and at a slow speed.
Thanks; I may still take a video of another more out-of-the way route in the future. I appreciate those roads too and it's actually been on my to-do list for a while.
