Mark and Earl stay in their home state of Michigan to try and hit it just right for the Woodcock Flight. The Woodcock, also known as a timberdoodle, is a bird that is extremely hard to harvest as it lives in very dense forest. In two days of hunting Woodcock Mark and Earl are able to harvest a handful but they definitely fire more rounds than they bag. "The woodcock is a humbling upland bird to hunt," Mark said.

BANG - "Dammit".......brings back a ton of memories :) I can remember slogging through miles of those aspen stands and shooting a whole box of shells and still not getting any birds.

Appreciated that you didn't sugarcoat it like so many other grouse/woodcock videos I watch by just showing the hits and not the misses. I'm likewise a bird hunter in NLP of MI and you accurately show the difficulty of the sport. Not to mention you describe the difficulty of finding (or developing) the right cover to begin with. Great video. Grouse and woodcock are my favorite. Mark, did you every try the dusky grouse in AK? Saw another show that hunted them with scoped .22's in the tall trees. It was like squirrel hunting for birds.

Actually would rather see the dog, infact wished the drone footage would of been longer, would of been awesome. Hunting woodcock is all about the dog work for me. They were made for a pointing dog.
