nice interview...Mick has never quite received due credit...his single note solos in Blodwyn Pig always had a lovely , jazzy note choice...with his own take on the blues...and coupled with nice songwriting and soulful convincing vocals....a damn class act....that song Dear Jill is a masterpiece...all the best to you Mick.....you're a beauty...

I started following Blodwyn Pig in March, 1973 with the purchase of 2nd LP " Getting to this." April 1973 followed with my purchase of "Ahead Rings out." Both of these albums (IMO) were on the same level if not more than Jethro Tull's " This was," and "Stand Up." I was quite perplexed as to Mick's departure with the Blods in 1970. I had heard Mick had an aversion to flying, or something. Whatever the case, the damage to Blodwyn Pig's momentum and status as a 1st division well known exciting British band ended. What is left is the reissue of Blodwyn Pig's first two albums now remastered, along with all of the Known B sides and extra songs not found on the original 2 albums. Also BBC recordings and other live albums of the 1970 + 1974 Blodwyn Pig line ups ( drummer Clive Bunker replaced Ron Berg for the brief 1974 incarnation) can be heard here on RU-vid, via Mick Abraham's bands page or under Blodwyn Pig. Mick mentioned the 1971 version of the band. First, there is an excellent 3 piece Blodwyn (Jack, Andy, Ron ) on film playing With Peter Banks and that new singer in 1971; there is an excellent very different BLodwyn 1971 "See my way" version featuring a 2 minute Peter Banks guitar solo, where Pete opens up, full tilt! For any YES fans, that IS a " must hear!" Type in " Blodwyn+ Peter Banks, " and then John Peel radio recorded songs + See my way, will appear. There was a nice 1 hour Mick Abrahams/ Jack Lancaster CD that appeared in 1990. There are also later versions of Blodwyn Pig, some really good via Mick's guidance and creativity in the 1990's, and also 2000's following Mick's health issues. The original B- Pig rhythym section, Ron Berg and bassist Andy Pyle joined Savoy Brown's 1973 " Jack the Toad" album featuring singer Jackie Lynton, Paul Raymond on keys and the excellent Kim Simmonds on guitar. Andy later played on KINKS albums in the 1980's. Jack Lancaster ( saxes) had a varied extended career after Blowdwin Pig playing with Robin Lumley. Aviator was a band that resulted after an attempt ( I believe ) to reform B Pig had failed to. Jack Lancaster, Clive Bunker, and (maybe Andy Pyle ) put out 2 records in the 1980's. I really liked Mick Abrahams' guitar playing. The 1971 Mick Abrahams band is good; second one with Jack Lancaster is ok. Classic rock magazine issued an interview with Mick about 8 years ago ( from 2024 , back ) . I posted several Blodwyn Pig articles, album reviews interviews on the main Jethro Tull FB pages. They are all from BEAT INSTRUMENTAL, Disc magazine, Melody Maker, NME, UK weekly+ monthly British record magazines... ...and the SQUIRLING MUST go on ! 28:10
