I saw John Wooden and his family a couple years before he passed away. He was at Black Angus in Northridge with his huge family and I held the door for him and his family as they walked out. He nodded at me and said, "Thank you young man." I then went inside to eat dinner and was in awe the whole night.
Mick Cronin, has all of the tools and knowledge to build another dynasty at UCLA! His mentors, his father, Ric Pitino and Bob Huggins! As a former basketball coach I would always love to here Mick talk about a player or game because, he always had little nuggets of gold in his description to help me learn a unique coaching skill!
He’s a great coach like Ben Howland, the difference is he really relates well to his players! All recruits, come to UCLA! You’ll learn and have a great communicator to work with.
‘92 grad...season tix since freshman yr...made numerous trips to cheer my Bruins in past March tourneys. I was VERY happy when Mick was hired because we have to be defense-oriented as a program. We can’t get the very top recruits consistently so we must focus on solid fundamentals and deep benches to pepper it with the stud recruit here and there - that is the recipe for UCLA success. Mick is the chef who can work with this recipe for a long time...
